Both Democrats and Republicans are engaging in nasty rhetoric and politics. It definitely has escalated in the past few years. However, a lot of the stuff being said is just pointing out some of the bad things the parties are really doing and the misinformation. Lots of lies, deceit, and deep state slanted dirty politics going on.

One former president shamelessly coarsened the rhetoric with no regard for the country:

There is no both siding this issue.

Prior to 2016 US politics was nasty but tolerable....the far-right fanatics had yet to be let loose from under their rocks....Trump changed that.

Trump embraced them....the white supremacists, the jack-booted militias, the QAnon kooks...

Now they make up a majority of the Repub base - and are daily fed a steady diet of hate, division, and outrage by the far-right media fever swamp...

Ans what is the result? Jan 6th where 140 police officers were put in the hospital, FBI offices shot up, hammer attacks on 82 year old senior citizens, mass shootings of people of color at Walmart's, and as we saw last week, a far-right domestic terrorist caught near President Obama's house with two guns and 400 rounds of ammo...after Trump tweeted the address...

We have crossed the Rubicon with regards to demonization of political opponents and tolerance for violence...

With their defeat in 2024, expect even worse from these far-right insurrectionists...

We recently had a major politician almost succeed in a coup d'etat. Lack of civility in politics is certainly distressing, but there are worse threats to our country.

Maybe for the left, the 8 years prior to 2016 was one of the darkest times for the nation for many.

the far-right fanatics had yet to be let loose from under their rocks....Trump changed that.

And Biden made the nation unrecognizable to the point where the country doesn't even resemble the US and is just a shadow of its former self.

Now they make up a majority of the Repub base -

In some far off fantasy perhaps.

Sounds like the Democrat party to the hilt.

We have crossed the Rubicon with regards to demonization of political opponents and tolerance for violence...

There is no reason whatsoever for the Democrats to continue down this path.

With their defeat in 2024

With the rapidly declining poll number os this President, I doubt he won't even be able to defeat time.

Be careful what you wish for: In January 2018 signed into law a Republican bill that increased the penalty of mishandling classified material from one year--a misdemeanor to five years--a felony.

Hillary-ous!

The USA is imploding like so many empires before it. This is supposedly civilised country yet there are millions of homeless, millions starving, millions with no health care....the list goes on. Just wait until 2024, if the republicans get wiped away (hopefully) the real violence will begin, because their grand deity, Trump, will again refuse to accept the result and the trouble will begin. And do not expect the police or army to help, most of them are republicans too.

Stock market reached a new high for the year and is nearing an all time high, btw. I guess if you are going to fail, you want to fail up.

I don't know about your country, but we have actual patriots in our armed forces. They will not do anything for Trump, just like they didn't do anything on Jan. 6th they weren't ordered to.

I know, there was a black man in the white house. Must have been a tough time for you.

And Biden made the nation unrecognizable to the point where the country doesn't even resemble the US and is just a shadow of its former self.

Here is a pro-tip: we did not live in Gilead in 2008. Simple video record shows this.

There is no reason whatsoever for the Democrats to continue down this path.

Now "destroy" them, "own" them and "make them cry", right? Sounds like the words of people who do a lot of crying on their own.

The USA is imploding like so many empires before it.

The USA is a Constitutional Republic and not an empire, never was, never strived to be, and never will be.

This is supposedly civilised country yet

It absolutely is.

there are millions of homeless, millions starving

Not just the US.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_sovereign_states_by_homeless_population

millions with no health care

But the majority do have it.

....the list goes on.

No country is perfect, none.

Just wait until 2024, if the republicans get wiped away (hopefully)

Probably not.

the real violence will begin, because their grand deity, Trump, will again refuse to accept the result and the trouble will begin.

Or...if Either Trump or by some miracle DeSantis wins, the left could go nuts and like 2016 refuse a legitimate elected President as well.

And do not expect the police or army to help, most of them are republicans too.

You have proof to back that assertion up?

I know, there was a black man in the white house. Must have been a tough time for you.

Yeah, it was, but it had nothing to do with his color or racial background.

It did to the birthers and you were one in the early days.

No, I was not.

Time to celebrate!

Joe Biden, “together with a band of his closest thugs, misfits and Marxists, tried to destroy American democracy.”

Very rarely does the MSM print the truth.

You don't have to eliminate democratic institutions to have a civil discourse. Eliminating FPTP, Winner Take All, and the Electoral College would result in Trump-like characters being left shouting at the wall.
