Purely in aesthetic terms, it looks undersized, weedy and a bit crap.
Strangerland
If I recall correctly, I think Twitter is being sued for not paying rent on this office right now.
The squatter is taking over. It's like a pirate X.

ExCorporation?

I think Mr Musk is going potty and doing strange things constantly. Definitely seems unwell mentally.
stormcrow
Kind of strange, but it reminds me of Charlie Chaplin's film "The Dictator". In that film they used an X instead of a swastika.
Norm
Yeah, the double cross. I’m not an X (née Twitter) user, but using the X as a logo just seems like lazy thinking.
opheliajadefeldt
Oh c'mon, just look at that hideous thing, a monkey with no nuts could have come up with something better than that. But then, look who chose it. Enough said.
Jimizo
Weedy. That’s the word.
When I think of an ‘X’ I think of something bold, mysterious and even illicit.
The bird logo looks more gangster than this.
FizzBit
Wow, a few days ago the guy and his company sends the largest commercial satellite into orbit aboard his own largest rocket in operation and all we get is this T-shirt type MSM unimportant Twitter logo change story.
@jimizo-It’s definitely a conspiracy

Yeah, I wonder what idiot timed the announcement of this change of the logo, and the attendant PR campaign, to coincide with that all important rocket launch. I totally agree, that was such a stupid move.
kintsugi
People will call it Twitter for along time to come.
virusrex
Musk is falling into the same patter of doing things without properly check if there are rules or laws to follow first. At least this time it is something of relatively minor importance.
Redemption
So glad I don't care.
PharaohChromium
SO MUCH SO that you're posting about it. Amazing.

Some poor guy living across the road has had his sleep destroyed.

Why X?
Desert Tortoise
Even worse, the crew X or Twitter or whomever hired to remove the old Twitter sign just parked their cherry picker in a traffic lane with no cones and no permit and were working over the main entrance without any safety tape to keep people from walking under where the workers were removing letters from the building. The cherry picker blocked a traffic lane used for right turns, creating a traffic jam so the SFPD had to tell the workers to pack up and leave.

Just parroting the MSM anti Musk operation is way way below your usual level of meaningful posts.
Strangerland
He should have stuck to rockets. When he was working with physical objects, physics kept his 'lets try anything' in check, as some things are physically impossible. Then he tried taking on software, which doesn't have physical limitations. It's hard to make a company-damaging change to a Tesla or a rocket, as it's physical and all the tests that happen expose problems. With software you make a crazy change and it just happens.
People who think Musk must know what he's doing, and have something special going on that they are just too stupid to understand are using the 'god works in mysterious ways' argument, also known as the 'appeal to authority' logical fallacy.
Desert Tortoise
It was covered in the LA Times.
quercetum
and that’s parroting.
FizzBit
Nobody really knows how much time Musk spends running Twitter. Reports say it’s 1/3rd, split between Space X and Tesla. So maybe just cut the guy some slack eh?
Nope! When the leftists say jump, they all must spew out some disgusting negative comments for no other reason than to satisfy some great Borg reaction.
Cards fan
I can imagine my company being cool with me spending only a third of my time on my work at the company.
Also, let's not pretend him not spending enough time at work is the reason he makes these idiotic decisions. Imagine owning a brand that's made itself into a verb, and then changing it to "X." Very stupid. It was stupid when he proposed the same thing at Paypal as well.
Jimizo
@Fizzbit
I think you are overreacting here. I think you’ve fallen into the regimented devotion shown to Musk by conspiracy theorists in particular.
Criticising this very uninspired and uninspiring logo isn’t tearing into everything he does.
Be honest, it is a bit crap, isn’t it?
Roy Sophveason
I am still convinced that Phony Stark is simply unable to walk back on a stupid idea once it has left one of his orifices, especially not when an army of (t)wittering edgelords eggs him on to follow through on his brainfarts.
wallace
"X" marks the spot where Musk blew it.

Oh boy, you’ve got me all figured out… haha
now if you can help me, exactly WHAT is the Musk conspiracy theory please?
I get an of what Copernicus and Galileo must of felt.
Roy Sophveason
The famous Galileo fallacy. Provoking the establishment to ridicule you doesn't make you right. Many people who have been ridiculed in their time were, in fact, wrong.
FizzBit
Nice jump in
But I’m confused, what exactly is Musk wrong about? And, how is ridiculing Musk right? Or are you just bored and felt like throwing out something intelligent(not a bad thing). However, at least you’re not childishly attacking other posters like Jimizo and others.

Jimizo
I think you’ve misunderstood.
What I was saying is that your predictable, garden-variety conspiracy theorists ( stolen election, climate change as a hoax etc ) tend to idolize Musk.
Just an observation. I see Musk as a bit of a mixed bag. Brilliant in some ways but a bit erratic to say the least.
Here was your observation:
Very critical but that’s fair enough. Certainly ‘attacking’.
Here was my observation:
Objectively speaking, I’d say mine was less vitriolic and less febrile.
Anyway, I’m not impressed by the name-change and logo. I haven’t come across anyone who is.
FizzBit
I think you spend too much time in front of the computer.
oh paalease, there was never any need to bring “conspiracy theory” into this, yet you always seem to find a way. It gets old fast.
I don’t use Twitter and I don’t care about the change. My problem is why must JT and the MSM always find ways to disparage Musk? When most of his work is trying to advance humanity. One of those being free speech, which obviously the left hates.
Invalid CSRF
Roy Sophveason
He doesn't champion free speech, as he demonstrated several times when the "free speech" is directed at him. And for everyone not named "Musk" he does not champion free speech either, he champions speech without consequence. And those are not at all the same thing.
Also there's another argumentative fallacy here: One can perfectly well dislike Musk and/or his practices and not associate with the opposite of what he advances (or purports to). Disliking Musk who claims to champion free speech does not imply disliking free speech.
I would argue that a large part of the world could not care less about, and does not subscribe to one side of, the US-American left/right trench warfare.
Jimizo
Which ‘MSM’ are you talking about?
I read the MSM are and come across a variety of feelings about Musk - genius, visionary, attention whore, hypocrite etc.
What ‘MSM’ have you been reading?
Desert Tortoise
Are you trying to say it didn't happen? What point are you trying to make? My point is that Elon Musk is so self centered that he hired a crew to take down the Twitter sign and didn't have the basic sense to take routine safety precautions like coning off the street (maybe even getting a permit from the city to do so because most cities do not let private firms block a traffic lane without prior permission, some cities even charge a fee for this) and taping off the door they were working over so nobody could be injured if the workers dropped something. Pretty basic stuff but Mr. Musk is self centered and doesn't think of these things. He does what he wants and to heck with everyone else. Is that parroting?
Desert Tortoise
I don't know. This guy managed to lose twice as much.

Let's not forget he is essentially squatting in that office, as they stopped paying rent months ago.
