And it's not released in Japan yet, because Japan is again the last place in the world to release a guaranteed blockbuster.

You can watch this film in Ukraine, for crying out loud.

But they don't need to exempt Crayon Shin-chan's latest release from competition in Ukraine.

Sound of Freedom is more of a life changer though. MI is just more samey, same action boredom. Bananas for the monkeys.

Did you read the article? It's not a blockbuster my any stretch of the imagination.

It is compared to the usual woke nonsense that is constantly shoved down our throats.

I read it. It's brought in $235mil after just four days. Underperforming in terms of projections but it will likely still bring in blockbuster numbers in the end.

There's rarely anything truly original anymore. How many mafia, time travel, revenge, etc., themed movies keep coming out. Tons. It's more about what you do in terms of story, dialogue, direction, acting to make it unique and interesting. The bad ones fail because they write crappy, woke stories trying to bank off established IP's while making pathetic attempts to replace very popular, original characters with ones/actors nobody cares about. Marvel, Star Wars, and now Indiana Jones are examples of this.

For sure. Been looking forward to Sound of Freedom for ages. It's what has been missing from movies. A real popcorn big screen epic.

Hopefully it will bring on many sequels, prequels and origin stories.

Zoroto: regardless of whether or not it meets your somewhat idiosyncratic definition of what constitutes a blockbuster, I still fail to see why film fans in Tokyo have to wait for weeks after it's been enjoyed by South Korea, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Indonesia.

My local cinema currently has two screens given over to "Tokyo Revengers - Bloody Halloween" (which hardly seems topical), plus Sailor Moon and Detective Conan.

Fans of western cinema can choose between The Pope's Exorcist or Super Mario Bros, both of which were released in April everywhere else in the world.

I want to watch the new MI film, as I have found it to be a consistently entertaining franchise for about twenty years. It annoys me that I have to be one of the last fans in the world to enjoy it because I live in Tokyo, which likes to present itself as a world leading destination of some kind.

Please don't encourage them.

Bananas for the monkeys.

I like bananas. I am not rushing to the theatre to see this, but there's a place for plain old entertainment. And, whatever one thinks of Tom Cruise, he is pretty clearly the last of the movie stars - a dying breed the likes of which we will never see again in this age of 24/7 media.

What Alfie ? You mean you aren't looking forward to the prospect of Sound of Freedom 4 : Assault on Pizza Shop 13 ?

Nah, I'll just wait for the musical, or the ice show.

Without looking at the comments, I’m guessing 1) “woke” was mentioned 2) there was complaining about endless sequels and Hollywood garbage (as though plenty of non-sequel and non-Hollywood films aren’t made every year).

New (and probably last Cruise-led) MI looks fun. I’ve enjoyed all of them, even the strange one directed by John Woo.

Hayley Atwell is 20 yrs younger than Cruise. Cruise usually makes films that are entertaining, if not excellent. I'll wait for it to show up on a streaming service that we already have a subscription with.

Missus keeps banging on about seeing this, might take her to Namba Toho to watch. Last time she was so excited was for the new Top Gun, we saw that in 4D, alright for a laugh. Maybe she fancies him, dunno why, I’m better looking and taller, lol, what am I like eh
