Two men in their 20s died after the motorbike they were riding was hit by an express train in Tokyo on Sunday.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 4:30 p.m. on a crossing along the Keio Line between Daitabashi and Meidaimae stations in Setagaya Ward, Kyodo News reported. One of the men was declared dead at the scene, while the other was taken to hospital where he died shortly after arrival.
Police said the crossing bars were down at the time.
Train operator operator Keio Corp said services were delayed for about one hour, affecting 23,000 commuters.

Go go! We can beat the train.
But you didn’t, did you?

I hate the red light people who don’t care about human safety. I always check the number plates.

Yeah, what a timing. On my way to Toritsu Daigaku station when they made the announcement and had to wait for the line to be opened. Brutal heat today. Almost fainted. Rode this hop on hop off with no AC and open canopy. Never again.

Some crossing bars are situated that you can maneuver around them, especially if they aren’t long enough.
It appears that’s exactly what they did

Very sad. Many years ago I lost a friend in a similar way - he was racing a train - there was not (at that time) a guard-rail but the lights were evidently flashing and bells ringing - they were driving a car...and their judgement was foolish...my friend and his friend were killed. It is very unfortunate when young people do foolish things that deny them the life they might otherwise have enjoyed. Very Sad.

The two dead were GROWN MEN.
NOT children.

True, but grown men, particularly young men, make mistakes.

To be young and wild without the fear of dying. Been there. Fortunately, I'm living to tell about it.
