unproven therapies

I remember some proponents of alternative science were pushing ivermectin as a treatment (or was it supposed to be a preventative?) for Covid back in the day. How did that work out? I haven’t heard anything about it at all recently.

Not "alternative science" or "The Science™", just science. Doctors on the ground - real ones dealing with real patients, not the bureaucrats - found that it almost invariably worked as a preventative measure or in the first few days of symptoms appearing. But because it's off patent and huge sums of money can't be made from it, ivermectin was demonised by the jab makers and the media, etc. owned by the same conglomerates. Oh, and emergency use authorisation couldn't be obtained for the jabs if there were existing therapies available, so any any existing rivals to the jabs had to be eliminated.

The usual suspects will of course toss their favourite epithets around. But if you're genuinely curious, visit the Front Line COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC) to find out what doctors who actually care about patients - including those with LONG COVID - have been doing to save lives instead of pursuing wealth at power at the public's expense. Ignore that tired fallacy of appealing to the false consensus, which keeps popping on these threads.

Things must be getting rough on the home front, with a wavering economy and rampant corruption, so Xi orders some distraction propaganda for the masses.

He seems to want the capture of Taiwan to be a legacy of his rule, but knows an invasion of Taiwan would be a bloodbath for his forces. So he has to weigh up whether doing so would put the CCP's grip on power in real jeopardy in the wake of throwing lives away for his personal glory. A true dilemma for someone who is likely a genuine psychopath

We've had 40°C days in July many times before, and we're in August now so this year is nothing out of the ordinary regardless of what the alarmists claim. In fact although it's hot, here in Kansai the temperatures are basically the same as any other year: mid-30s every day from mid-July to mid/late August.

I assume that everyone here who wants to drastically cut fossil fuels won't be flying home, and will be slashing their use of everything that oil and gas are used to produce, directly and indirectly.

Nah, didn't think so.

We should presume innocence here. Even still, if he's innocent he should stand fast and not resign, so in this case there's probably fire behind the smoke. Also wouldn't surprise me that Japan Wind Development did offer Akimoto the bribe, laundered through disguising it as a horse purchase, given that the relationship between them in an official capacity would be difficult to described as arm's length.

The whole affair isn't all that surprising, since it's difficult to make the case for wind power without generous preferential treatment from governments in the form of tax breaks, subsidies and the like.

Now for Canada to do the same to the odious WEF puppet

Are there any politicians in Canada or elsewhere you approve of?

There's a small number. You can tell who they are by the amount of negative press they get from the corporate and government-owned media. I'm sure you're smart enough to figure out who they are.

Good move, Sophie

Nah, it was a good decision. So you think she should've stayed with him?

There is no reason for such a huge increase, but if people want to eat beef, you pay the price.

Are you sure about that? Beef doesn't miraculously materialise on supermarket shelves by itself. What about all the costs involved with producing it and getting it to the consumer? Rises in those costs will affect the retail price.

As for the quote of the day, this is one of the most ridiculous explanations for people resigning themselves to higher prices. It's like me "taking a break from enough sleep" to make sure I meet deadlines and keep customers. Sheesh.

What falsehoods did Pfizer spread about the covid vaccine? everything the antivaxxer propaganda pushed as falsehoods was demonstrated as wrong.

One glaring example was that Pfizer knew that their product did not stop the virus from spreading. But they made zero effort whatsoever to clarify the blatant lie coming from governments, health bureaucracies and the media that getting jabbed would stop the spread.

Just face the truth and accept that Pfizer was not up front about the effectiveness of their product. Not to mention colluding with the FDA in an attempt to suppress clinical trial data by keepng it under wraps for 75 years. What on Earth were they trying to hide? Not unfavourable data!

Posted in: Tainted love: Misinformation drives 'vaccine-free' dating See in context

Amusing to see the legacy media are doing the bidding of their owners to try and discredit anyone who decides against taking their products. This flimsy propaganda piece aims to demonise people who see informed consent as an important value, and makes a lame but expected attempt at guilt by association:

Vaccine falsehoods often overlap with other types of misinformation, introducing believers to those espousing the QAnon conspiracy theory and anti-LGBTQ narratives.

I guess when you have such a dubiously "safe and effective" product, you have to do anything to guilt or scare people into taking it - even when pushed by government mandates, lockdowns, travel restrictions and the like. They are panicking because next time something like COVID rolls around, resistance is likely to be much stronger because the media, political and bureaucratic class, the pharmaceutical companies involved, and the people who own them all were so deceitful last time around.

The Australian energy minister said earlier in the day that the country will remain a "reliable energy supplier" for Japan, after Nishimura last month expressed concern over Canberra's new rules restricting carbon emissions.

Bowen can't even ensure Australians rely on affordable energy at home, so why the Japanese would listen to him is anyone's guess. Electricity prices in Australia have risen 30% in a matter of months due to government policy. Nishimura should treat Bowen with the contempt he so thoroughly deserves.

property destructio? really?

This is probably a stopgap measure so they could arrest him if he didn't actually tough their bodies, in the strictest sense. Remember that this is Japan, a country with a baffling legal system that often makes it difficult for cops to arrest people for the acts actually committed. They'll probably loo through the books to see what else they can get him while holding him.

Posted in: Climate change costs: Which countries will foot the bill? See in context

Everyone will cop it, except for the usual suspects of course - the same ones enforcing the ESG scam but wealthy and powerful enough to ignore or absorb and pass on the costs of their own edicts.

People in developed countries will cop it through ever-escalating energy costs for unreliable, expensive "renewable energy" produced with raw materials mined by what's essentially slave labour in poor countries and that pollute indefinitely once discarded. These high energy costs push up the price of everything else too, so everyday items will cost much more. And with nuclear being a dirty word, reliable baseload power is out of the question unless we can change the minds of governments and the fearful that new nuclear plants are very safe and produce very little waste, which can be securely stored.

People who can't afford to trade in their old car for an EV will also be at a huge disadvantage because crooked governments are trying to legislate petrol and diesel cars out of existence, making their current cars worthless. In the meantime they'll be gouged with higher taxes on fossil fuels and charged for driving on urban roads, think the UK's ULEZ and the UN's utopia of 15-Minute Cities. Sounds nice on the surface, but dystopian when people won't be able to afford to go any further! So they'll have to rely on public transport. "You'll own nothing and be happy!" Where have we heard that before...

Poor countries will cop it as well if they abide by any of these accords or agreements because the people there will be denied the cheap, reliable energy that's essential for development that raises standards of living, which in turn makes environmental protection affordable. In any case, China will do what China does, claiming developing nation status while building fossil fuel-powered power stations at home while raping the resources from Africa to see their unreliable junk solar panels and windmills overseas to coutnrties determined to undermine their own economies.

So, nobody wins but the scammers right at the top.

Or you could just stop complying with this BS and fight back by first going after the local councils and choosing to deal with companies that reject the ESG scam, and give carbon credits the finger next time you fly.

This isn't the worst idea around, because it's essentially user-pays in that the people who are benefiting from infrastructure, such as public wifi and tourist information offices, are the ones footing the bill for it instead of locals who are already taxed to the eyeballs. This is all good if the money collected is spent appropriately instead of wasted on overcharging consultants and amakudari fee-skimmers.

That old b@stard is partly responsible for creating the monster that is today's CCP. If he and his Rockefeller mates hadn't pressed Nixon to recognise Mao's regime and open up the trading relationship, there's a high chance that the enormous transfer of production from the West to China would have been far less than what happened. As a result, the CCP would be far weaker and possibly even have gone the way of the Soviet regime.

Thanks Henry.
