Augmented reality is the next leap forward.

It will revolutionize remote work and learning, which in turn will revolutionize society in general and will make Zoom and FaceTime obsolete. It will make remote work and learning MUCH easier, better, and more effective. More work and study from home would also do much to curb climate change if more and more people cease to commute everyday to work.

I would love to see more augmented reality take hold in work and education.

Considering Macs can't do games, no. It is not the device VR has been waiting for.

It’s the third or fourth wave to push that technology into mass markets. We’ve played around with headsets, 3D-glasses and virtual worlds etc already 25, 30 years ago or so. Yes, it’s really very interesting, if you see it for the first time, but after a short hype of several weeks it’s all thrown away or in best case landing forgotten in the attic developing a dust covering, and soon everyone returns to the real world for better. It’s always been an extremely expensive niche product and it very probable will remain such.

$3,000 for a headset. No thanks.

Facebook changed it's name to Meta because of all the legal problems they were having at the time and the damage done to the Facebook reputation so they changed to Meta to reset their image.

At $3,500? No, and it never will be.
