Does this article mean that the Japanese press are hanging around the Lebanese courts in order to write stories about Ghosn? I didn't see anything is the regular news.

"Ghosn, who has citizenship in Lebanon, France and Brazil, has repeatedly professed his innocence."

I believe him 100%.

That can be the case, since Japanese news workers really depend on the tie with Japanese officials when it comes to exclusive leaks, in exchange they become good boy/girls not to questioning and critical to Japanese officials. Which part of this is being criticized by Ghosn when he held first press conference after he escape, Japanese news only cover one side.

About that warrant that issued by French is more politically motivated, last year it was issued just two days before the voting of presidential election, where the issue of social inequality is in the peak between candidates. Again French is using Ghosn to their advantage.

The Lebanese government has much more serious issues to address. Now that country has completely gone to the dogs, they start pursuing Ghosn? Not surprised in the least.

The article doesn't mention that Dati was hired as a legal advisor for Renault–Nissan in 2009.

Ghosn's going o have to stay in Lebanon a little longer. It seems the Davos camp have abandoned him.

I am sure the Japanese government is extremely open to giving some kind of support for the Lebanese, as long as they have some gesture of goodwill of course.

In 2019, Ghosn jumped bail while being questioned in Japan in a daring escape by hiding in a box spirited aboard a private jet. He fled to Lebanon which does not extradite its citizens.

And Japan would NEVER let this go away because of all the "bat hurt"! I was so happy to hear the news when he absconded! Because he knew if he stayed, he would not have been tried fairly and would've been convicted without a shred of evidence! Why are they still bringing this up? He's gone and would never come back! Just let it go, Japan!

Surely you're joking, right? Japanese government? Support? Lebanese? I highly doubt that!

I am a little confused as to why this article is under the crime section. Non of it is Japan's jurisdiction.

Non of it is Japan's jurisdiction.

the guy is a criminal in Japan, possibly France and the Netherlands.

he needs to be extradited. Otherwise it sends a message that rich and well connected are above the law and can live in $3 million mansions in the countries of their choice.

I agree that Japan needs to let this one go. He would have never had a fair trial, he knew it, exposed that fact, and Japan suffered international humility because of it. Just like that Youtuber Gassy from the U.A.E. International humiliation for Japan = treason. You will be arrested for something, regardless of what it might be.

Ghosn was recently on a variety TV show, and the stories made him look like Japan's public enemy #1. How much do they pay for famous TV personality reaction bubbles to make a scrunchy angry face for 90 minutes when it's pretty hard not to side with the criminal?

Never once saw anyone question it. Sheep.

as you can see, they are adding groundless charges to make the case endless.

@Obladi This an Associated press article. It shows up on numerous other sites!

Great News, I was really wondering about that

I believe him. Look, as everyone knows he’s of course more the type of receiving money, not to pay it to others. lol

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

What about the other directors and executive who approved/agreed with the payment to Dati for the services she was providing to Renault/Nissan? What were they doing?

Same news, from a different source.

“are not based on any evidence and are part of a continuing legal targeting of him,”

the guy is a criminal in Japan, possibly France and the Netherlands.

The guy has never been on trail in Japan. He is therefore not a criminal.

he needs to be extradited.

Japan has no extradition treaty with Japan. Well done Lebanon for not extraditing him. Incidentally , has Japan compensated Mr.Ghosn for unlawful detention as recommended by the UN.
