Me thinks you misunderstand the use of "carry his entire team", if that was so, they would have won. He is leading on his team, of that there is no doubt, but not even close "carrying it".

Why?
No one was an Angels fan before Otani joined.
Just enjoy and be amazed at the insane numbers he is producing.
None of us has seen this kind of production on both sides of the plate before.
And maybe we never will again.

No need to be so pedantic. You can say someone is 'carrying the team' if they are generating most/ a lot of the offense. They don't necessarily have to win.

Yeah, Mike Trout. The guy who has pitched. . .well, okay, he's not a pitcher but he has hit. . .well, not as many home runs, but his RBI total is. . .well, not as good, but. . .well, darn it, he's just good that's all. HE is making all the difference for the Angels. My mommy said so. Mr. Ohtani is getting the headlines Trout used to get because he's. . .well, right now, Trout's not doing nearly so well as Ohtani, but you wait. Next year for sure! Well, maybe.
