Bug-repellent clothing…but for your dog

Summer in Japan is notorious for three things: heat, humidity and bugs. While we can easily pop into the nearest pharmacy and grab insect repellent, it might be a different story for man’s best friend. Some dog breeds have sensitive skin and assuming insect repellent would work the same way it does on their bodies can do more harm than good.

Enter the Mandarine Brother’s Insect Shield. It’s a breathable romper for your dog made of natural insect-repelling fibers. The romper is lightweight and cool to the touch. With the effects of the insect-repelling fibers lasting over 70 washes, it’s durable and offers UV protection.

The Insect Shield comes in 11 sizes and four different colors.

Available from ¥4,180, you can purchase it online at https://www.mandarinebrothers.shop/view/item/000000000143?category_page_id=wear

Another worry in life you can now overcome.

Most dogs live indoors and would get bitten when they are out walking, This suit has no hole for a harness and leash. And my dog would probably bite my face off if I tried to put it on him!

mountainpear - I hear ya!

I suppose the harness could go over the garment, but my Shiba also would not take kindly to anyone trying to get that thing on his body. He even keeps his harness on indoors, cos trying to put it on at walkies time is tantamount to starting WWIII.

I don’t think he needs any insect repellent though: he’s the only dog I’ve ever had who has never been bothered by fleas, mozzies, tiks or any other kind of bug. No bug would dare.

@cleo Duh! Stupid me! Of course the harness could go on top! I had to customise my dog's harness by adding one more plastic fastener so that I didn't have to put it over his head!
