As a long term resident of Hiroshima, the G7 wasn't that big a hassle. Some schools closed , many people worked from home, but neither is a bad thing.

The pr for the city was great and the symbolism of all the leaders visiting the peace park was powerful.

Likewise the US with Eptsein, the Uk with Savile.

To say it's only a Japanese problem ignores all of these other case's.

Louisferdinandc

Youth soccer follows the school grade format so irrespective of when the j-league season starts, youth teams will separated by school grade.

Regarding the high school tournament it may move. That said most future pro's are playing for J-league clubs youth teams.

Only a handful of players go from high school to the pro's

A weekly round up of games on japan today would be nice

Posted in: J.League looking at switching to autumn-spring season See in context

With baseball dominating the summer it makes senses to play fall-spring when the j league can take center stage.

The downside is japanese people are generally not enthusiastic about attending sporting events in the cold. As they have no traditional of doing so.

For clubs who offen lose their best players half way through the j league season in the European summer transfer window it would be better to play fall-spring

Regarding the Levian cup the increase to 48 clubs from next year should make for more interest. The biggest issue is the lack of main stream TV coverage of this competition t

The Emperor cup is a shambles run by the j.f.a. Hopefully some day they will turn control over to the j league

Finally, I am surprised the writer not mention the J1 will increase to 20 teams from next year.

The J league has made great progress,

stadiums are friendly, with passionate fans, ticket prices are reasonable and clubs make great efforts to connect with fans and the wider community

please go and see a game if you get the chance this season

Posted in: Japan to ease COVID-19 guidelines for mask-wearing on March 13 See in context

Hello Kitty 321Today  12:32 pm JST

Why do westerners make such a fuss about wearing a mask? It is no big deal and if it keeps our hosts happy, why not?

Because, many of us aren't guests but residents

Posted in: Japan to ease COVID-19 guidelines for mask-wearing on March 13 See in context

Regarding masks outside, the government only recommended not wearing a mask if you were more than 2m apart . Which has meant almost everyone continues to wear a mask outside.

Hopefully from March 13th (why March 13????) when all requests to wear masks are dropped should mean more people will stop wearing masks.

Even if you remove the running track, can the seats be moved closer to the pitch? I doubt it. They should have built a proper (running-track-less) football stadium in the first place.

The current first row is around 10 meters high so an additional 10-15 rows in a shallow bowl over the running track is more than feasible

Of the hundreds of billions wasted on pork barrel roads and entertaining a measly billion a year on a world class stadium which will be used by more than 2 million people next year doesn't seem like a big concern in the wider picture of things

They are right in that the only two sports that can fill such a large stadium is soccer and rugby.

Unfortunately, nether is the most popular sport in Japan, and the Japan team is mediocre in both. In other words, this stadium will never be full other than once every few years at most

I was at the national stadium for Japan all blacks in October which was sold out

San freece vs Cerzo Osaka which had 45,000 spectators in October and Tokyo fc vs Reysol which had 55,000 in August

So you are wrong about both soccer and Rugby not being popular in Japan and the stadium not being able to sell out

I have sat in the each tier and in both the main stand and behind goal stands

The view was fantastic each time, the steepness of the stands makes it feel like you are close to the action even with the running track. The atmosphere for the Levin cup final was amazing the roof holds in the atmosphere.

Access and amenities are excellent too

Now the stadium is going to used for more events and concerts the cost will come down remember it wasn't until October that the stadium was finally allowed to be full

Personally I no longer wear a mask in any situation, it's sometimes uncomfortable and I feel like pressure to wear a mask

However, as I believe masks are no longer needed are detrimental to childrens it's important to make a stand and go maskless .

Two years ago, wearing a mask was for the betterment of society now I believe it's for the betterment of society not to wear a mask.

If you are unhappy with the continued use of masks, make a stand and stop wearing a mask.

All 3 penalties were identical misses. It's clear the plan was to score the corner but after the first miss they should have realized the keeper is good at low shots and instead aimed for the top corner. Unfortunately what is the team's strong point; sticking to a plan untimely lost them the game.

Japan can only play counter attacking football. They lack the creativity to make space when the opposition sit deep. The formation should have been 3-5-2-1 not 5-4-1. The players played poorly but the formation and and game plan are the reason they didn't win

Terrible goal keeping is the reason they lost, gonna was too far forward and flat footed

99.7% if under 50 7and 99.995 % if under 50 according to the latest data
