If you’re behind on spring cleaning, now is as good as time as any to get to it. While dust seemingly tends to accumulate faster in Japanese apartments, probably due to the size or how the windows are sealed, procrastinating will only make things worse. With summer right around the corner, it’s time to wash out the curtains and clean out the air conditioner filter.
Gone are the days of washing and then wiping down surfaces with washcloths. With the Thanko Handi Mop, you can do both simultaneously without breaking a sweat, literally. This compact, battery-powered mop and vacuum cleaner is perfect for cleaning up spills of all kinds. It absorbs dust and dirt while spraying water so you can count on it for ridding your house of all sorts of messes. Whether you use it for cleaning stairs, windows or light bulbs, it’s easy to use and hassle-free.
Available at ¥5,480 from the online and physical stores.

Sounds great for the busy housewife.

I fail to see any real advantage over a spray water bottle and a paper towel or two at a fraction of the cost.

Seconded, robot cleaners may need this kind of thing, but for a person doing the job the current options are practical and easy enough to make this unnecessary. It is likely aimed to people that like gadgets even if impractical.
