We will see if the Fukushima water release affects anything. Time will tell. However, many people do no realize or do not care that all ocean fish contains traces of mercury.

I live in California. It has been one of the coolest summers so far in decades. There are always a few weeks that temperatures go into the 90s during summer. It is normal, but now news media sensationalizes it like it is quite abnormal.

Both Democrats and Republicans are engaging in nasty rhetoric and politics. It definitely has escalated in the past few years. However, a lot of the stuff being said is just pointing out some of the bad things the parties are really doing and the misinformation. Lots of lies, deceit, and deep state slanted dirty politics going on.

Wouldn't it be better to just dump the water in some desolate desert that has little to no life? I'd bet some countries would allow it for a fee. Just a thought.

It is a shame they had to close down Jingu golf range as well. I liked that golf range. At least I got to experience it before they closed it.

Posted in: Shipping emissions tax still stuck in port See in context

Taxing shipping is just going to drive inflation up way, way more and inflation has already been raging around the world. The governments should be working on trying to decrease inflation not increase it.

If everyone had EV cars or even a larger percentage of cars were EV, the electrical grids would be extremely strained. Right now, the governments around the world are already asking people to cut electricity consumption. I haven't seen any legitimate solutions to increase electricity production to cover the increased demands anywhere in the world. Sounds like a recipe for failure. Just my opinion.

Sushiro restaurants saw a sharp fall in customers after it was shared widely.

People are not very bright when they stopped going to the restaurant chain because of this incident, like it is common incident at the restaurant. The restaurant had no control or responsibility of the guy licking the bottle. As for the lawsuit, I think it is not very bright either.

Posted in: Why is there so much hate posted on social media sites all over the world? See in context

But also to add, nowadays, there are lots of heated issues (government policies, religion, social issues, etc.) that have become more public due to the internet and social media. The heated issues do affect people and people are making their opinions heard, but it has cause way more division and discourse. Perhaps this is Rome falling of modern society. I don't see the division and discourse improving much.

Posted in: Why is there so much hate posted on social media sites all over the world? See in context

The constant bombardment and discussion of sensitive topics like religion, politics, sex, money, and private matters in the news, social media, public, etc. has completely changed society by creating lots of division and discourse. Before, people would just mind their own business and stay in their own lane and everyone could coexist better. Nowadays, everyone feels the need to force opponents to comply with their ideology, morals, values, and belief system. I live in the US and it is particularly bad here.

In my opinion, it is ok for people to have different morals and values. There are too many different influences on people like religions, cultures, etc. To make everyone comply to one standard is not good and realistic. I think everyone should just stay in their own lane, do their own thing, and mind their own business.

Before, as the old saying goes, it is best to avoid discussing religion, politics, sex, money, and private matters publicly as it may be impolite to do so, causing discomfort and embarrassment to other people. They are very sensitive topics for much controversy and discourse.

I don't think that is a good characteristic of society if people don't know how to smile.

According to the old saying, it is best to avoid discussing religion, politics, sex, money, and private matters publicly as it may be impolite to do so, causing discomfort and embarrassment to other people. Also, they are very sensitive topics for much controversy and discourse. Now in the internet age and social media, that is all that is talked about, which is why there is so much division and discourse politically.

Posted in: Why are middle-aged men getting so persistently bashed online? See in context

In the case of the dating example, it should only be an exchange between the two of them and should not be posting the dating exchanges publicly on social media. It is nobody's else's business. Hence, the reason it is called your "private or personal life."

If the woman did not like the man, then just tell him straight up that she is not interested and block his number or email if he was rude or kept persisting. Her friends ganging up on him to criticize him and defend her on social media just makes the situation worse and escalates it.

Also, I think the article should put the age of the women for context.

Vreth

Let's see if tourists drop off once the JR pass price increases.

I think foreign tourists will definitely drop off buying the JR Pass when the price increases kick in. Price increases of 65 to 77% is an extremely high increase. Usually anything above a 5% increase is a lot.

Polyester socks can get really stinky if feet are sweating. In general, polyester clothing can be more smelly if it cannot dry quickly. Cotton clothing especially socks and undergarments are better for odor, but don't breath and dry as well.
