Classic whataboutism. The theme of the exhibit is "World War II in the Air". I suggest we stay on topic.

As someone who has visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum twice, the first time in 1984, the greatest emotional impact was seeing photos of the innocent victims killed instantly or suffering for days, weeks, or months until eventually succumbing to radiation exposure and burns.

More Americans need to see this evidence and mentally struggle with the dilemma and tragedy that was the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Ever off to further shores for a photo opportunity with world leaders in an attempt to bolster domestic support. The American dream of any sort of security alliance between South Korea and Japan is a pipe dream. Yoon may be in favor. The National Assembly is not passing anything of the sort.

How will he stick his foot in his mouth this time? Perhaps he'll wax nostalgically about Aso Cement Taiwanese factories during the colonial days and what friendship Japanese and Taiwanese had back then.

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

Xi and Nguyen Phu Trong, both unmasked, shook hands and embraced before taking part in a televised welcome ceremony in Beijing's Great Hall of the People - an unusual display of close contact between Xi and another leader, as China persists with strict COVID lockdowns.

Trong's was the first visit by a foreign leader since Xi secured a precedent-breaking third term as General Secretary at the Chinese Communist Party's 20th party congress this month.

There's mythology and then there is history. Japanese didn't start recording anything in writing until the 6th century CE. With few exceptions Japanese emperors have not been at the apex of Japanese government for more than a millennia.

This dynasty is older than Jesus.

Vietnam communist or no has forever tried to balance against the Chinese behemoth to the north. At the same time the CCP and CPV have strong historical ties and are very friendly. Vietnamese culture is largely Confucian. On top of that China is far and away Vietnam's largest trading partner. Your oversimplification shows either your bias or your blindside.

The US is the one applying pressure. Nobody wins a large scale war between the US and China. If you think the price shocks were tough following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, you ain't seen nothing yet.

The clear victory goes to China. The US encircles and threatens China. Anything goes. And let's not try to pretend that the US does not try to do the very same thing,

@meiyouwenti Japanese business have profitably invested in the light manufacturing sector in Vietnam for decades. You can even see the factories driving in from the airport in Hanoi into the center of the city.

It is interesting to see Japan being buddy buddy to a government led by the CPV - Communist Party of Vietnam.

@Desert Tortoise Here's an oldie, but a goodie, 天高皇帝遠, Heaven is High and the Emperor is far away. If you know anything about Chinese people, they have plenty of individual ideas and plans to better themselves and their families. Don't believe Xi is pulling all of the levers. It is impossible.

@Xavier Nice, this must be the first thumbs up from Buffet towards Japan since the economic bubble. It's not likely to last.

lol. I suggest you expand your reading list beyond the Epoch Times. I have far more faith in China's business acumen and entrepreneurial skills than moribund Japan when it comes to demographic challenges.

If however Mr. Xi cannot successfully address China's demographic decline and the cascading economic problems they create he may be the last CCP leader of China.

Sure, the days of 8-10% yearly growth is done. China will easily average 5% growth over the next decade and more. That's a trillion dollars of new wealth generated every year. Only fools would ignore that and the leaders of South Korea, Japan and other Asian countries are not fools.

We can all agree that 10 years of Xi was plenty. He won't be in charge forever.

Good luck getting a two-thirds vote on anything in the Senate that does not include a bunch of pork barrel spending.

Hopes also remain that the U.S. might reconsider its early CPTPP withdrawal, creating a dilemma for signatories given their veto power and the risk China, if admitted, could block a future U.S. entry.

The Nationalists destroyed the dikes on the Yellow River to slow down advancing Japanese troops killing tens of thousands of fellow Chinese due to the flood as well as causing wide-spread famine killing many more so there's precedent.

Actually Hawaii has a stronger claim to independence as before the British and Americans arrived it was wholly Polynesian.

Anyone thinking South Korea is going to be tied into a trilateral security agreement needs to have their head examined. Yoon is as hawkish and pro-Japanese as they come and he's only around for a few more years.

O-bon season is just around the corner. We all know where some LDP officials like to visit and donate to.

I do not. Every nation should get something. Sharing is caring. Now the real problem is that your beloved Chiang Kai-shek government in 1947 motored down to an island west of Palawan on a navy vessel gifted by the United States and planted the ROC flag (pretty cool so will include it 青天白日滿地紅) on Taiping Island. For those unfamiliar with this reference, Taiping Island is far south of China's Hainan Island and on the same latitude as Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). Nationalists forces remain there to this day.
