Why? It's not even alarmist - Just a simple fact.

Flu is seasonal, unlike covid. There are effective flu shots.

Active fearmongering seems to be a part of everyday life now. A virus, climate change, K-pop.

We have lived with the flu before we can do it again. Once again the J experts being quoted for stating the absolute obvious! You just never get those precious few seconds of life back!

Rational people do not fear scientific information, instead appreciate when something is understood well enough so opportune warnings can be given before a problem becomes important enough. The only people that feel fear from information are those with a deep antiscientific bias.
There is nothing "obvious" about expecting a full influenza season in 3 months, and it is a perfectly valid warning so people can take measures that can limit the risk such as vaccinating.

Dr. Hamada was telling the public in general to wear masks at a time the WHO was advising against doing so (and also praising China's handling of the pandemic).
