rough end for those people, but, ultimately, who is responsible for individual safety and well-being? also, I wonder if the element of danger isn't part of the attraction.

where I live (southern Chiba-ken) companies come in, and very efficiently de-construct houses, cart away everything usable, especially timber, and they are very very efficient (leave the sites clean and clear), compared with the slow and seemingly piecemeal approach to building new houses here, or local council 'projects' (mostly trying to shore up crumbling infrastructure). and recently I met a woman in Shinjuku who runs a business entirely devoted to re-cycling timber from old houses.... she said business was booming.

what with this and the Voice in Oz.... they are setting out on a very rocky road..... dear oh dear!
