Posted in: Student arrested for alleged possession of cannabis, stimulant drug See in context

The move came after the university found pieces of a plant and pills in July and contacted the police. The plant was later identified as cannabis, they said.

And the pills have been identified to be stimulants.

I would believe an university would not contact the police for just cannabis, and keep it secret, but here, if the story would be known to have been hidden, it would get worse for the university.

Posted in: Japan's average gas price rises to 15-yr high on lower gov't subsidy See in context

I think all subsidies should be stopped as it does not encourage people and businesses to really reflect on their consumption and reduce it. A few years back, such a price was making the headline due to a very high oil price, but now the exchange rate has more impacted the price increase than the oil price itself. The J news do not report anything, focusing on the heat and temperatures. Oil price is around 80 dollars now.

With a price at 200yens, behavior will change.

It has been decades that experts have been warning about global warming and associated risks, also the link with human activities and CO2 release.

But nothing is clearly done to stop the hemorrhage, which does start by what we call a consumption decrease by humans. But this hurt politicians.

@disillusioned

We bought an apartment when we first got married. I filled out several loan applications with different banks and we eventually got finance approved. It wasn't until she kicked me out that I found out my name wasn't anywhere on the housing contract and her father had guarantored the loan for her only. Be careful guys

i believe you were « abused » or did not want to see some dark side of your lover. One is reflected by the abusive pension required.

As for the housing, it is complicated in Japanese, but if you signed the loan application, you should have a guarantor. And did not you check the housing contract ?

If your name is not on it, it means all the taxes are paid under your wife’s name

According to the Jnews, the Tokyo court has ordered Fukuhara Ai to give back the kid to her husband, but her side said the court decision is not final.

This is a high profile case and for once, I believe Japan will comply with The Hague treaty it has signed, otherwise it might go against Japan

First of all you don’t go into unknown rivers, lakes or sea areas, still independent of any swimming skills, never.

Staying home is safe but heatstroke will be a danger.

An assessment of waters is enough to decide specially for rivers and lakes. Seas have hidden currents that can not be spotted. rivers such as the one of this article do not have any trap.

gokai_wo_manekuToday  08:14 am JST

@didou What do you mean. I live just to the right of that picture. Almost everything I need is within a 5 or 6 minute walk. So convenient! And the subway is just around the corner, so I can get anywhere.

If you are happy and feel comfortable in Shinjuku, that’s fine. For sure, it is convenient.

But for me, the concrete jungle is depressing and would kill my mental health.

Lack of greenery, too many people. I feel like within a fortress, always surrounded by walls. But beyond that, it is not only the price but the overpopulation, always having to wait in line, crowded stations, etc…

Work in Tokyo, but I did chose to have a 2 hours commute for a more relaxing atmosphere in Chiba, near the Pacific coast. The only inconvenient is that it makes it more difficult to meet friends based in Tokyo during the weekends.

Having grown in the countryside in my home country had definitively an impact.

Why keeping supporting Ghosn ?

He is not a saint. He is on the Interpol list and sued in other countries

In another news

Lebanon received from Interpol a wanted notice for disgraced auto tycoon Carlos Ghosn on Thursday, four weeks after French prosecutors issued an international arrest warrant for him, Lebanese judicial officials said.

It is the second Red Notice that Lebanon has received in the case, as the first was issued in January 2020,

The new Red Notice came after the French prosecutor's office in the Paris suburb of Nanterre said last month that it issued the warrant for the former head of Nissan and Renault and four other people based on an investigation opened in 2019 into money laundering and abuse of company assets.

Prosecutors are investigating millions of dollars in alleged suspect payments made between the Renault-Nissan alliance and Suhail Bahwan Automobiles (SBA), a vehicle distributor company in Oman.

Many convenient stores open after taking away the greeneries, woods or rice paddies along roads, to end up closing after a few years of not working. Some places are taken back by dentists, massage chains, etc, but a lot just get abandoned and empty. This has a huge footprint as the land is never restored. I would like the chains to reflect on that, rather than only promoting some plastic reduction or whatever fits with an environmentally conscious mind.

Apparently, one guy arrested is also suspected of a similar robbery in Ueno last March.

The only way to escape after a robbery in Ginza, or any other areas with a street camera every 5 meters would be to have a real mastermind plan, and heading straight to Haneda to catch a flight. But anyway, this would end in being arrested overseas, which happened to some foreigners about ten years ago. Only high profile guys, such as Carlos Ghosn, are not handed back.

Those kids are not Nobel Prizes and watched too many movies.
