Good news for tourism and the economy. And with the cheap Yen, there hasn’t been a time when it was this economical to visit Japan since the early 90s.

The Chinese must need more hostages with which to conduct diplomacy.

Either that or they’re running out of ways to exfiltrate their pilfered intellectual property.

Golly,

If only they had the goodwill of the international community OR the hard currency with which to purchase food on the international market.

Sadly they lack either because the spent all the latter on nuclear weapons and delivery systems to counter a non-existent threat.

So fat boi will have to handle this one alone in his normal competent manner.

Oh this story again. I shared the other day that many people from many political parties from many countries, including Canada, aren’t buying this human climate change nonsense.

They're called morons and every country has some.

As does this site full of climate deniers in the year 2023. Some of you probably believe in the Easter Bunny as well.

The US federal government already declared the fires in Lahaina a disaster.

So, your personal opinion is contradicted again.

Yeah, not so much.

Declaring a disaster has in determinative effect on the cause of said disaster. It only makes it bad enough to warrant Federal assistance.

Only a fool will think that the increase in frequency and severity of weather events and natural disasters worldwide have nothing to do with human-induced climate change caused by carbon emissions.

I mean to deny the volume of the evidence would be W from the year 2000 - level stupid.

Posted in: Japan's smoking rates continue to decline for men, women in 2022 See in context

Have to agree with Justasking.

been here 28 out of the last 32 years give or take. The difference is remarkable. As I recall, roughly 45-50% of men and around 25% of women smoked when I got here at the last gasp of the bubble era, as did I.

I finally after many, many attempts and a on and off history of smoking, managed to quit for good 2 years ago. So glad I did. Hope it wasn’t too late. Better later than never I guess.

I think that a change in what is socially acceptable, and restrictions on where smoking is allowed have made a big difference.

It used to be totally normal to have a puff walking down the street or in a public toilet. That’s a no-no now and it’s a good thing.

I think in another 20 years the rates will be tiny because smoking will make one a social pariah, and because most people still smoking will have died from it by then.

Nonetheless, congratulations to Japan. You represented yourself and the country well.

Meanwhile the United States is sending manned missions to the moon in the next 2_years and is headed to Mars.

But sure, repeating an unmanned probe mission to our closest celestial body is nice too. (Slow clap)

Good!

The Chinese economy couldn’t synthesize a fart in a bean factory.

What it can do is steal intellectual property and technology and use it to destroy democracy.

One of the biggest mistakes of the Clinton administration was giving the Chinese access to “commercial” rocket technology, which they promptly used to increase the reliant accuracy of their ICBMs.

And economically, this measure along with falling exports, a falling currency and deflation, will knock the Chinese economy down a notch which will also have the effect of putting a muzzle on their ludicrous “wolf warrior” (More like Panda Pooh) diplomacy

He wants to ensure that as few people as possible watch a snarky younger man stomp his ass. (When he recovers from surgery for his non-existent weight training injury of course.)

Streaming it on the glitchy monstrosity known as “X” ought to do the trick.

today you complained about the lack of Biden articles.

Yeah and THIS is what we get? a maybe gonna do something shortly?

Maybe if Biden boinks a porn-star and then pays her 130k to hush her up (and fails to document it), or....

Rapes a woman in a dressing room, or.....

Commits massive tax bank fraud overstating the value of his properties to get loans and then debasing the value of the same buildings during the same period to evade taxation, or......

Steals nuclear secrets, war plans and other secret info and shows them to joe blow and then obstructs their recovery, or......

Attempts to blackmail a state AG to "find" votes, or......

TRIES TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT to save himself from the results of an election that he objectively lost, THEN.....

perhaps you will have something to talk about.

But he didn't. So you don't.

Trump never visited train accidents

Trump went to Palestine, Ohio.

He wasn't president. And as president he never visited train accidents where fatalities occurred and neither did his cabinet-level appointees (unlike Pete).

but again why is trump even being mentioned?

Because of your false equivalence between Biden visiting a country as head of state which is a normal role, and Trump, like Biden, NOT visiting the site of a rail accident where fatalities occurred.

It's called consistency and your lack of it.

Kinda like he will visit the US/Mexico border shortly and the train derailment in Palestine, Ohio shortly?

Posted in: FAA asks FBI to consider criminal charges against 22 more unruly airline passengers See in context

They really should be charged. You cannot have this kind of violent, disruptive, criminal behavior in an enclosed environment.

Allowing it creates incentives for more violent behavior.

In addition, airlines should coordinate their banned flier lists so that sky rage goobers don’t fly on ANY airline.

Transportation is not a right. It’s a service that can be denied if one is not willing to flow the rules of basic civility.

Charge disruptive passengers all costs associated with diverting to off load them as well. That can easily run into the tens of thousands of dollars.

And save me the “the seats are too small. The cabin is too tight” whining. The seat sizes haven’t changed. Adjusted for inflation, flying is cheaper (and safer!) than its ever been.

You know the rules. Sit down, strap in and behave and there won’t be any trouble.
