Terribly sad.

She was a woman who seemed to have everything, but, in the end, had nothing.

And marrying Bruce was a poor substitute for the love and belonging she sought.

I met her in HK in 2012. She was an effevescent but extremely guarded person.

May she rest in peace.

Dang. So young and so much left ahead.

So sorry for her and her family.

It is very unfortunate to have fame and the world at your feet but with an empty life and losing the war against depression..

What a shame. She had such a beautiful voice. May the poor woman rest in peace and her family find solace.

No need to use the word 'suicide'. Western media does not do this to prevent copycat incidents ... Usually, western news media will not mention the cause of death and write "died suddenly".

Not true.

Just to name two of many examples, the deaths of Robin Williams and Chris Cornell were widely reported as the suicides that they were.

They may write "die suddenly" at first, because the suicide isn't confirmed immediately in many cases.

Once it is confirmed, though, they report the truth. As they well should.

Let's be a responsible news source

By lying? By covering up the truth, no matter how unpleasant?

That's how a news source becomes "responsible"?

Sorry, but what kind of alternative universe thinking is this, that news media outlets should become "responsible" by becoming more like the Soviet-era Pravda?

Should the media also say that murder victims "died suddenly" without reporting the actual cause of death -- so as to help prevent "copycat murders"?

How about handling theft, child abuse, domestic violence, & so on the same way?

No, no, a thousand times no. The media should tell the truth, no matter how hard it may be.

You think covering up the reality of suicide will somehow make it easier for society to deal with the problem? No offense, but that's utterly silly.

shame on you

Explain why.

The other day I said that people posting jokes about a woman beating her husband with a woman coat hanger should be ashamed of themselves.

But I took the time to explain why.

You didn't.

Anyone can type "shame on you" and hit the "post" button. Takes absolutely no intellectual effort or prowess to do that.

Explain why.

It IS really sad, something else about Hong Kong is now "Dust in the Wind"....just like all of it's history.

She also sang the beautiful song "A Love Before Time" (from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Tiger), the lyrics of which have added poignancy now.

不想醒过来

谁明白

怕眼睁开

你不在

Sleep in peace.
