Huw Edwards is a coward leaving his wife, Mother to his five children to be left to pick up the pieces.

I don't buy the the mental illness sympathy vote.

Huw Edwards arrogant abuse of power and leverage of his senior role at the BBC, aided by a singular failure to follow the rules of discretion in private life of a household name, public figure, is frankly selfish and inexcusable.

The Sun, the police, and the BBC haven't published any real evidence. The police said no crime has taken place.

Under the current strengthened legislations defamation laws are swinging without clear evidence.

In this case alleged screen shots and bank account statements produced by the family.

The police say there is no evidence of criminal activity by Edwards. The person's parents sold a fake/grossly exaggerated story to The Sun newspaper and they ran it because they want to attack the BBC. The Sun/Murdoch's lackeys want to do this because they find the BBC's extremely lightweight criticism of the government, actually from people like Gary Lineker not Huw Edwards, distasteful.

fwiw, I find the BBC full of Tories and almost unwatchable. One person from its supposedly "hard-hitting" current affairs programme "Newsnight" married arch Tory George Osborne at the weekend, that's how much they are in bed with them. The main vox pop programme "Question Time" is outsourced to a Tory donor's production company who handpicks the audiences. That all said, the BBC is still way better than the Murdoch press, and should be defended from it. Edwards may have done something a bit dodgy, but this story is not about him. I think we all remember the comical pearl-clutching and selective outrage from some over Gary Lineker’s tweets. This story is obviously not the same but for some, the motivation is similar.

Until real evidence is published or Huw Edwards is charged, then like the rights of all people, he remains innocent. You stated he is suffering from "severe mental illness". How would you know that? He has a history of depression which he has openly spoken about.

It wouldn't be the first time The Sun posted a fake story. i.e. Hillsborough for one.

Where is the family? The police spoke with them.
