I've lived in different countries in South East Asia, similar to Japan (lots of island), but nothing beats the humidity of Japanese Summers. Never had to deal or even aware of molds until I came to Japan.
summers in Japan are drier than the Philippines, so the heat feels more intense, but at least sweating keeps you cooler in dry heat. in my opinion, more humidity feels more oppressing.
The U.A.E. Summers can go up to 52 degrees C but it's actually more tolerable than say summers in Japan because it's a dry heat. The humidity is what makes summers torture.
The hottest place I’ve experienced is probably Greece, particularly the bus ride back from Kalabaka to Athens (I think the air conditioning was broken). Dry though, unlike Japan, so it was more bearable.
The best place for summer is my home country Germany.
Worst summer I have ever experienced was Fort Lauderdale Florida. I was there for a month in my early 20s and never forgot the feeling of the heat and humidity there.
Worst place for heat in Japan is Nagoya and Tajimi, I spent many summers there in the early 2000s and 2007 was the worst and 2009 was the best there.
The two best places in Japan for summer in my opinion are, where I live now on Noto Pennsula in Ishikawa prefecture which has beautiful summers every year and on Shimokita Pennsula in Aomori prefecture.
I've lived in hotter countries,e.g Qatar, Australia,India, even Nepal, but I think it's more how cultures adapt to the heat and humidity through architecture, work routines and diet which make the summers more bearable.
In that regard,Japan on the whole is the least comfortable.

Interesting. I also found Nagoya extremely hot in summer - I'm talking from back in the 90s. I used to get sent to various places for work, but Nagoya seemed hottest. It was maybe just chance of timing, but people there told me it was generally very hot in summer.

Humidity is a big factor. I grew up in Chicago - just like Tokyo in July-August. Hottest? 40° with high humidity is dangerous.

I have no idea, but probably not Scotland.
(OK, a quick Google search suggests it is Mali.)
