The issue stems from war criminals combined with Shinto beliefs.

In Shinto Enshrinement at Yasukuni gives absolution of earthly deeds to those enshrined their. There by forgiving those war criminals of any crimes they committed during WW2

Imagine if Germany did that to their war dead and included their war criminals. And then you had heads of the government visiting and sending offerings.

According to police, Hisata Toyoizumi, who lives in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture and is already under arrested

have re-arrested a 23-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of robbing an 86-year-old man at his home in May

Maybe he hasn't confessed yet? do they not have enough to actually prosecute? It doesn't say that he has been charged with anything just being kept from seeing a lawyer.

You don't have to have an extradition treaty with any country to request extradition. It will be up to the laws of the country to determine if they will extradite or not.

La Hague in Frances releases Tritium water with 11,400 TBq/year. Sellafield in the UK releases 1200TBq/year.

Thanks for the info.

Correct, that's why this has nothing in common with what a meltdown releases. This is the discharge of slightly tritiated waste water, just like it happens elsewhere in Japan and around the world.

Yea right slightly.... 22 trillion becquerels of tritium into the ocean a year show me the data where one location releases more than this in one year.

@Roy Sophveason

This here is, depending on the person and their motivation, either the biggest misconception or the biggest lie. It has been done for decades, and it is done right now, in multiple times the quantities. We know exactly what happens. We have more than half a century to look back onto.

Really we have had that many lvl 7 (INES) meltdowns my recollection must be damn bad because I only recall 1 other lvl 7 (INES) meltdown in history.

@Fighto!

You do realize there is no science for the amount that they are planning to release. As It has never been done before in the quantities they are releasing.

Posted in: IAEA opens office at Fukushima nuclear plant before water release See in context

TrafficConeToday 11:10 am JST

It is hard to imagine a less dangerous radioactive isotope than tritium. Tritium emits an extremely low energy electron, so weak it is stopped by a half-inch of air. Tritium radiation is so weak it cannot be measured by a normal Geiger counter. The electron is too weak to make it through the wall of the thinnest gas tight detector tube. A tritium electron cannot penetrate the dead outer layer of your skin

However, it can increase the risk of cancer if consumed in extremely large quantities.

You should read the article more thoroughly. Especially the parts about the safety record and current state of the technology, safe handling or waste, etc

I did and usually the water to be released would be in small volumes. but we aren't talking small volumes here are we?

every single nuclear power plant in the world is releasing the same "nuclear poison" into the environment

Fukushima's radioactive water is more contaminated than standard waste water that is released by other power plants.

Why just 6 to 8 months though? The waste water release will go on for at least 40 years. You shouldn't eat seafood ever again

Because ocean water travels in 6 -8 months it will be around China, Russia, US, and Korea we saw the debris wash up in these locations 6 - 8 months after the tsunami

Don't worry too much it's not just Fukushima but the whole eastern side that should be worrying. water is known to travel long distances. I won't be eating any seafood for at least 6 - 8 months that includes sushi and nori.

China's top diplomat urges greater co-operation with Japan, S Korea

The article didn't read like that to me. seemed to read that China is telling Japan and SK to unite against certain bullying countries (USA) and support them with free trade so they can keep making money or they will go to war.

resist "the coercion of bullying and domination", China's top diplomat, Wang Yi, said on Monday, in an apparent swipe at the United States.

Wang also called for accelerating talks on free trade zones and efforts to free up and smoothe trade among the neighbours.

and oppose words or deeds that could plunge the region into war.

@Alongfortheride

Once again a bunch of negative comments above but not 1 solution! They can NOT continue to keep storing water in tanks and keep it! I can only imagine your complaints if they have 1000 acres of full tanks and there is another major earthquake and they all burst!. So if you are going to complain about this being a bad idea to release the water also add a better solution as they simply can not keep collecting and holding the water.

Finally Japan realize that tatoo have nothing to do hindering someone to be professional soldiers, many soldiers, airman and seaman have tatoos during WW2, see who won WW2.

Tattoos in Japan have long been associated with organized crime syndicates. Basically if you have a tat then your criminal. and they don't wont criminals in the armed forces. hence the rules. They are of course outdated but Japan takes a long time to make any changes just in case something goes wrong they don't want to owe the responsibility for it so they procrastinate over something till it goes away and somebody else can deal with the issue.

Another article on here mentions some copyright restrictions/regulations

I think they were talking about Images, AI can imitate the style of an artist an create an original image using the same techniques of that artist. but really bit hard to copywrite a technique or patent a technique.

Imagine a patent holding a brush in your hand holding one eye open and putting your tongue to the left and brushing down then upward in a single fluid motion... AI can't do that anyway... it just uses the stroke and since each time an artist uses that stroke it is ultimately slightly different so...

The Japanese law say the legal age for consent is 13 , but that’s being changed to 16. So I’m confused the only reason this guy was arrested is because he paid her? If he had a consensual relationship with her without the money then what would of happened? I don’t get the law on this.

As in America the law changes in each state. It is also the same for Japan the law changes in each prefecture. whats not to get?

My question's what about civil liability, damages? As clearly, he'll NOT be driving again.

That wasn't clear from the article. It doesn't say he has had his license revoked. Just says he was given a suspended sentence. From what I could find online their doesn't seem to be a lose of license only Prison as the punishment which would severely limit the ability to drive while imprisoned but a suspended sentence I am not sure. It isn't actually clear that losing his license is actually part of the sentence he was given.

Humans have destroyed the environment. Anyone who says otherwise is scared and deluded. We need to return to a simpler way of life.

That would be delusional and disastrous. Return to a simpler way of life with over 8billion people on the planet is not going to happen. We need to move on and get ready for the next phase and work out how to survive on a planet that has begun to overheat.

option purchasing a sim cards from convenient stores and use them in there mobile phones , many other nations are using this system and it works just fine

You do have the option.. walk into your current provider and tell them to unlock your sim card.

Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has legislated that all smartphones and tablets released after May 1, 2015, by NTT DoCoMo, au/Okinawa Cellular and SoftBank Mobile (the three major carriers in Japan) must be sold without a SIM lock upon request from customers and without any cost to the customer ...

If they say they cant do it, then ask them to get that policy in writing. (use google translate app camera to read it in front of them to make sure that is what they have written) last time I got my phone unlocked they tried to pass me of with a paper about some info on a new device. when I pulled my phone out and translated it they looked embarrassed then 15 mins later they had unlocked my phone. I got some prepaid sim cards online.

We had a whole export control regime during the Cold War which targeted certain industries and companies. Biden has taken it to a complete different level. You may cheer that on, but I think we as a human species have a brighter future if we choose to avoid Cold War II.

Not sure I agree the World tried it with China for 50 years and look where it is now a dictator who has given himself the rights to rule for life and they still commit human rights violations every day.

They tried the cold war with the Soviet Union and that crumbled. and then they welcomed the remaining leaders as democratic and then Putin got in charge and reverted everything back to communism so I doubt what you suggest would work as it has proven not to.
