Like minded democratic nations on both sides of the world are coming together in the face of threats from the autocracies. A "free and open Indo-Pacific" means that no country should be permitted to claim the entire body of water as their own and institute unilateral control over it. China is doing exactly that right now. Anyone with half a brain knows this.

If China continues its efforts to bully everyone around it into kowtowing to it, then an alliance between Japan and NATO could be very useful.

Only insecure foreigners need NATO,we pay our taxes in America,we expect a response in kind too those that threatened American,be it nuclear or conventional

It would be nice if Japan was strong enough to not need NATO and still stand up for itself and Taiwan. Kind of sad that a country built on warrior culture has been diminished to this level.

Japan is not all that weak.
And all the help NATO countries gave Ukraine hasn't done any good.

I suggest you tell that to the 1.4 billion kg gorilla in the room.
The year is not over yet. It's not unreasonable to argue that that Kyiv's current independence so far is due to NATO, either.

As long as Ukraine is funding their own demise by taking Putin money and shipping his gas to the EU ,moron will believe Ukraine will prevail
