What another new things that made in Japan? Seeing Japanese execs that bowing in the news, I just prefer globally proven vaccine, like moderna and pfizer.
Old Sausage
Ah! My lovely Japan is so advanced in certain areas and so backward in others. Fear to make mistakes, brings other types of mistakes and delays.
Finally, now that the pandemic seems to be gone, Japan has come up with the authorization for a Covid vaccine. Something akin to getting your luggage done but the train has departed 1 hour before. Not to get angry, I laugh.
kurisupisu
Is it as ineffective as the other so called vaccines?

Only 2 years late!
Utter waste of time and resources to develop it and government time assessing it for approval. No doubt the next iteration will arrive too late as well.

@kurisupisu
No, I believe it is MORE ineffective on Japanese people as the other ones!

@Capuchin,
But that's one of five sentences of the article! You can't expect people to read all five of them!
Personally, I got outraged about Japan being so late to the game, mNRA doing nothing and simultaneously killing people, the Big Pharma Lepidosauria industrial complex, and vaccines as an abstract concept already by the first sentence. I don't need to read more than that.

I hear their domestic polio vaccine will be approved any day now.

All these mRNA vaccines suffer from the same critical design flaw, namely that there is no way to control what cells will take up the LNP and start expressing foreign proteins. If it is simply confined to the muscle tissue of the arm, fine; however various studies have demonstrated wide spread migration away from the injection site. This is of particular concern if the LNP is taken up by heart tissue. Until this problem is addressed I'll be staying well clear of all mRNA vaccines and rely instead on older time-tested inactivated virus formulations.

People still getting vaccines?

Most people in the world would now scoff at another vaccine to have, but in unquestioning Japan, sleeves will be rolled up and the greatest non thinkers in the world will just march in line to the beat. Hey, do the kids while you are it guys. Might as well ay?
Big pharma has done a number on us in collusion and in bed with the must unlikely of bedfellows. Wont be trusting the 'govt', the 'science' nor the 'experts' for some time soon now. What an absolute shemozzle in hindsight.
uaintseeme
Will it be covered by insurance or will people have to pay? 3 years later, I HOPE this isn't about making MORE money. Mask companies probably made $6 billion dollars just from Japan alone.

money "well spent"?
wondering abt costs for jpn taxpayers for it...

It is not critical, compared with the indiscriminate production of many times more viral proteins that happens during the infection (and that includes proteins that have as a function to mess up the immune system) this is an expected unintended consequences that have no importance in the safety and efficacy of the vaccine.
This is like calling pain during the injection a "critical design flaw", simply not true.
Not a valid concern as long as the risks are not elevated compared with unvaccinated people and specially when they are a tiny fraction of the risks that come with the natural infection. If "old" vaccines do not reduce this risk from the infection as well as the mRNA vaccines you are still choosing the most risky option.
Raw Beer
Why?
Haven't the regulators seen the ever increasing reports of serious adverse effects from the mRNA shots?
ian
Haha no it's not meant for past variants read the article again

Funny still many people wasting time on something they'll be too afraid to take whatever the circumstance.
Alan Ochoa
It's 2023 and people are still somehow doubtful of vaccines while supposedly knowing more about them than the actual medical professionals that dedicate their lives to studying and creating them. Gotta love the exceptionalism some people exercise lol
purple_depressed_bacon
Classic! When the height of the pandemic is done and dusted, and other countries have moved on with their lives, Japan comes up with a vaccine. And a domestic one at that. Because what, Pfizer, Moderna etc. were proven so ineffective? What an utter waste of resources and money.
virusrex
Since the reports are a tiny fraction of the serious health problems from not being vaccinated this is not a reason for not approving a vaccine. While there is still transmission of covid It is still much safer to be vaccinated than not.
ian
That's probably the reason it's called domestic
Raw Beer
Except that that is not true. After three years of my posting about large peer-reviewed studies, expert testimonies, and official government data, perhaps a different approach is needed for those who remain unconvinced: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsR6EkQWXng

You have never been able to reference even one single institution of science that supports your claims, obviously pretending the whole scientific and medical community of the world is included in a conspiracy is not even remotely believable. When primary sources like scientific studies and the communications from respected institutions of science do not support your views about vaccines liking to youtube videos do not make it better, if anything it makes it obvious that you have no actual evidence on your side.
Strangerland
If all you have is a YouTube link, you've already lost your argument.
Got anything reputable? Note: if it's not published on the internet in text, it's not reputable. Even if it is published on the internet in text, it still may not be reputable, but when it's not published on the internet in text, you know it's not reputable.

Oh, I see you missed this part of my comment:
"After three years of my posting about large peer-reviewed studies, expert testimonies, and official government data,"
I have provided many links to them over the years. If you haven't seen them, perhaps you just don't want to see them...
Jimizo
Mate, you’ve been posting mind numbingly predictable, garden-variety stuff which conspiracy theorists love on a wide range of topics with YouTube links.
Strangerland
I don't see any links. Are they being removed as part of a conspiracy? Is that your theory?

I think I will pass.

The Cleveland Clinic's bivalent booster follow up study of 50000 employees showed that compared to the unvaxxinated
One dose = 1.7 times more likely to test positive; Two doses = 2.63 times more likely; Three doses = 3.1 times more likely; More than three doses = 3.8 times more likely. Fact checkers claim this doesn't prove anything other than CURRENT STRAIN VAXXINES MUST BE DEVELOPED! which is logistically impossible given the speed of mutation and regulatory approval.

According to page 4 of official UK data here^ from autumn 2022 between the ages of 40 to 49, 932000 doses of the vaxxine had to be administered to prevent a single COVID hospitalization. For at-risk +70s, the number needed to vaxxinate (NNV) is 7500. As these are only hospitalizations, the NNV is even higher for preventing death. Put another way, it cost taxpayers between 5 to 20 mililon dollars to prevent a single hospitalization of a person under 60 with no underlying conditions.
7thPatriarch
The July 29 article from the Asahi Shimbun confirming a 2nd undeniable link after a 14 year girl died post booster states there were "approximately one to nine deaths per million inoculations." So, nearly a million doses required to prevent one hospitalization and potentially 9 deaths resulting from it. "Unofficial" (establishment disavowed) sources put the vaxxine death rate at 1 in 1000 meaning 13 milion people worldwide died from the jab, nearly double the 7 million who died "with" covid. In 2022 the most ModRNA'd country in the world Japan had the largest population reduction in the world, even more than Ukraine.
On July 26th, the Executive Director of the Japan Medical Association Kamayachi Satoshi, declared that vaxxines were not recommended for anyone other than those at high risk.

The math on this risk/cost-benefit equation has barely changed since 2021, the only thing that has changed is the Japanese government's policy. Still no guidelines on how to prevent COVID.
Abe234
Tad late on that. However, I would have a question about these drugs and how it was tested. While the drugs on the West were probably tested on people from multi-cultural backgrounds, my guess is Japan might have only tested on "JAPANESE" people, and knowing by experience Japanese doctors might end up bringing the " We in Japan use smaller doses, compared to Gaijin" I'm sure many of us have experienced this. Anyway, I hope we can see the research, where it was tested, and in what groups. Medicines that are supposed to be used by any group should be trialled on all groups, to ensure efficacy.
