Japan opposition leader vows aid for Taiwan in boosting deterrence

Where those aid come from? Tax payer money right?

More can and should be done by Japan to support Taiwan in the face of endless threats and bullying from freedom-hating Communist China.

Taiwan is a free, progressive nation - and fellow democratic nations in the region have an obligation to support her. Allowing Taiwan into the TPP - as Baba suggests - is a no-brainer.

Support free Taiwan!

Good, Taiwan needs all the support it can get in the face of the China’s vicious aggression.

Tsai said she hopes the Japan Innovation Party will continue to exert influence in the Japanese parliament.

What influence? It's LDP (with a dash of Komeito) all the way.

A Osaka based party will never get enough support from Tokyo influencers -not the SNS clowns but the guys with real power behind the scenes.

Taiwan is just begging China to invade it! When it does happens eventually, the US and its cronies Japan will just sit back and avoid any direct conflict with China except put baseless sanctions which won’t hurt the Chinese Governments but in fact hurt the ordinary people in The US and Japan who will see price for everything rise dramatically! For many many years China had never showed any intentions of invading Taiwan since almost all countries had abided by the “ one China Policy “ ( the US still says it abides by that but their actions are the opposite )! But the constant meddling of the US and Japan in Taiwan is backing China into a corner and this will be the downfall of Taiwan! But hopefully in 2024 The Republicans will win the presidency and the new administration will almost definitely change its approach towards Taiwan and this will calm the situation between China and Taiwan!

Taiwan is no more Formosa.

So why is Taiwan Japan's business?

So, mind your own business Japan.

-25 ( +4 / -29 )

Didn’t know Japan had an opposition party. Need to study Japanese.

-10 ( +7 / -17 )

China trolls working ferociously... The money Japan can spend on Taiwan's defense can come from taxes paid by Japanese companies with profitable operations in China, so it is very good! The Osaka party is more forthright in anti-Chinese aggression and that is very good too -- it should replace the weakling other opposition party.

"US President-elect Donald Trump has spoken directly with the president of Taiwan - breaking with US policy set in 1979, when formal relations were cut." (2016)

Taiwan is just begging China to invade it!

Name one thing they are doing other than existing and trying to prepare a little bit to kill mainlanders should it be necessary.

When it does happens eventually, the US and its cronies Japan will just sit back and avoid any direct conflict with China

Does it look like the US doesn't engage in wars? Has Sleepy Joe not given you enough hints as to what his thinking is?

except put baseless sanctions which won’t hurt the Chinese Governments but in fact hurt the ordinary people in The US and Japan who will see price for everything rise dramatically!

It will hurt the CCP, too. It will be: zero trade with Taiwan, zero trade with the US, probably zero trade with Japan and Australia, and hopefully zero trade with the EU in perpetuity.

For many many years China had never showed any intentions of invading Taiwan since almost all countries had abided by the “ one China Policy “ ( the US still says it abides by that but their actions are the opposite )!

Yes, they were doing "bide your time". Why did the current chump abandon that early?

But the constant meddling of the US and Japan in Taiwan is backing China into a corner and this will be the downfall of Taiwan!

Again, just one example of consequence.

But hopefully in 2024 The Republicans will win the presidency and the new administration will almost definitely change its approach towards Taiwan and this will calm the situation between China and Taiwan!

You can hope for a US surrender all you want, but so sad, that is not in the cards even with a Republican in the WH.

Dear Japan: Why do you get into matters that do not belong to you, playing at being the concubine of good old US, and destroying your relations with the next first economic world power???..

Do you love to be the "Ukrainian circus" from the east??..

let me guess that even this vacation is funded by OUR TAXES?

That's how society works. Especially in dictatorships like Russia, where the leader funnels money wherever he wants, including his own pockets.

2 ( +5 / -3 )

Yes @Eastman, that's how or works. Even a public servant in opposition receives a salary funded by you and he is of course entitled to holiday. What are you so upset about.

Good to see that everyone is a strong supporter of Taiwan! I intend to live there one day.

Exactly. Gobbledygook to make this 1 party dictatorship look like a democracy.

Didn’t know Japan had an opposition party.

Me neither.

Need to study Japanese.

For J politics? You're not missing much.

Taiwan is no more Formosa.

So, mind your own business Japan.

Taiwan does not belong to china.

It is a strong, independent country.

So what goes on between Taiwan and Japan is none of china's business.

So mind your own business, china.

Someone here needs a BIG history lesson

Indeed you do. But you can not educate the wilfully blind. So as you have demonstrated in Oh so many posts that you are a CCP/neo-fascist running dog there is little hope for you, So your posts have to be treated with the contempt they deserve. Luckily Japan and the Japanese people have more empathy and humanity and are capable of making a moral judgement and identifying evil, oppression, genocide and oppressive dictatorships when they see them so you are wasting your time.

But how can Japan help, deliver weapons to Taiwan?

If it's about financial or moral support, forget it.

Inclusion of Taiwan in the transpacific partnership could be the catalyst for a mutual defense treaty among Pacific nations akin to NATO. South Korea should also become a member along with Mongolia

0 ( +1 / -1 )

It is useless if South Korea is not included in the strategy of containing China by QUAD and TPP. The cooperation of the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and Taiwan is essential in the Pacific partnership. On land, it would be nice to have Mongolia participate.

Taiwan is an important country for Japan, and the United States also provides minimal arms support. This is a very important issue because Japan must protect its sea lanes from Chinese aggression.
