Japan is being a responsible member of the G7. In a couple of years Russians will be entirely dependent on China,

meaningless act.

will damage japanese economy and export.think how many japanese companies doing this business for long time, employing people, paying taxes to LDP gov.now many will get bankrupt.people will loose jobs.gov will loose income.

it was funny to read that this ban will help to lower prices for cars inside of Japan.LDP expert surely have no idea that most of cars sold here are kei cars, these 660cc cars and these are faraway from 1.900cc ban for Russia.so in week or two japanese prices for cars under 1.900cc aged 0 to 5y.o. prices will go rapidly up as these will be target for russian buyers.LDP expert than will need to explain to its voters why say 3 y.o.Vitz costs some 40% more than his voter Tarosan cant afford to buy because of price hike.and usual explanation may be because of "bad Russia"?

about cars over 1.900cc,than hybrid cars and EV from Japan.there are alternative routes so cars still will be shipped out of Japan to Russia idirectly. Its matter of weeks this will be established. This business will not die.

just to add a few more words.LDP is working hard to damage japanese economy more.by antirussian sanctions as well, dont need to talk about acting against japanese national interests.just to please boss from USA without care of wellbeing of own citizens and taxpayers.

China will be winner in this case as more japanese brands-made in China will be shipped to Russia and Japan gave this nice opportunity to China as quick as you say 1-2-3

Fumio and co you are truly "geniuses"...

The Russians are scavenging electronic components from home appliances for their weapons and modern automobiles are loaded with electronics so yes, indirectly they can.

Watch news sites besides this one. The west is already building a case against China with intel showing China has been covertly providing Russia with material support for their military including hardware. It won't be tomorrow but expect China to be confronted with this intel and if they don't respond sanctions against China are a real possibility.

Japanese cars are in high demand in Russia and the expanded ban is likely to deal another blow to Moscow amid its ongoing military invasion of Ukraine that began in February 2022."

This will be a decisive blow.....I expect Putin regime to collapse within weeks of this being implemented.

OssanAmerica...

In a couple of years Russians will be entirely dependent on China.

No, in a couple of years the war will be over, there will be a peace treaty of sorts and western countries will be scrabbling to get back into the Russian market. Meanwhile Chinese companies and Russian home grown companies have had a few years headstart.

Toyota is the only effective export company for japan, so we are basically flushing ourselves down the toilet.

MHI is one of the worlds great commercial shipbuilders and if you travel any you will have noticed Kawasaki rolling stock on subways and railroads in various nations. Oh yeah, and there is this company called Panasonic you might have heard of..........
