I'm really looking forward to the day the west has competent leadership once again.

I'm really looking forward to the day the west has competent leadership once again.

Gonna be waiting awhile as Surrender Donald has nothing positive to offer the west.

"By closely working together with the United States, we will strongly demonstrate to the world the strong will of the G-7 to protect the rules-based international order."

Well, shut the invasion on Ukraine down then. No more bullying allowed by false tigers.

the strong will of the G-7 to protect the rules-based international order."

The 'rules based international order' is and has long been that the strongest empire and its allies prevail. With regard to Russia, the aging gas station has shown that even with the backing of fellow totalitarian regimes, it's another empire-wannabe, one that long ago had its glory days, but today is fading away, though not fast enough. That China is hitching up with Russia shows how desperate China is today. I'm sorry for Chinese people that get drug down because of the decisions made by the CCP..

We do right now. We didn't 2016-2020. Very appropriate name though.

Never miss an opportunity, no matter how small, to remind the world how the nasty Americans dropped an atomic bomb on the peace-loving Japanese.

-16 ( +11 / -27 )

Seen the cover of the latest edition of Time? High expectations for Japanese military expansion. So of course Biden has to come now.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

@David Brent

peace-loving Japanese? Did you study History in school?

-11 ( +10 / -21 )

Never miss an opportunity, no matter how small, to remind the world how the nasty Americans dropped an atomic bomb on the peace-loving Japanese.

They did, near the end of the war, on two civilian towns. And they did it as a message the USSR.

Do you have a dictionary nearby? Look up "sarcasm".

-1 ( +12 / -13 )

I'm sure the American vets that would have been sent in on an invasion disagree.

when two "leaders" met...double 00 result

Never miss an opportunity, no matter how small, to remind the world how the nasty Americans dropped an atomic bomb on the peace-loving Japanese.

It would he hard to deny that America's pacific war was not primarily racist against the "yellow race".

No one considered nuking Germany, the Americans distanced themselves from Dresden, and the Nagasaki bomb was completely unnecessary. The ethics of Hiroshima is another matter altogether.

-2 ( +8 / -10 )

No one considered nuking Germany,

Ya think that might have been because it wasn't ready yet?

the Nagasaki bomb was completely unnecessary.

Considering the Japanese leadership wasn't clear on whether it was a single bomb or whether there was more than one, it apparently was absolutely necessary.

The ethics of Hiroshima is another matter altogether.

Faced with the number of American casualties it would have taken to invade Japan, I think most Americans still believe it was the right thing to do. Paired up with Japan's atrocities the bombings are pretty small by comparison.

-9 ( +9 / -18 )

Ya think that might have been because it wasn't ready yet?

Irrelevant. Bomb not ready does not mean it can't be discussed. It wasn't

Considering the Japanese leadership wasn't clear on whether it was a single bomb or whether there was more than one, it apparently was absolutely necessary.

The Nagasaki bomb was much more powerful than Hiroshima. It was a test, and show of strength to the Russians.

I think most Americans still believe it was the right thing to do.

Still doesn't make it ethical. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Nothing on Dresden? The Americans were dead against it. But then they fire bombed Tokyo.

8 ( +14 / -6 )

"Roosevelt instructed Groves that if the atomic bombs were ready before the war with Germany ended, he should be ready to drop them on Germany, but Japan was regarded as the most likely target."

The Nagasaki bomb was much more powerful than Hiroshima. It was a test, and show of strength to the Russians.

You should be thankful it did serve as an effective demonstration, intended or not. Otherwise half of Japan would be in a North Korean style dictatorship or part of the Russian dictatorship.

United States is in a steady decline as their default is inevitable, a matter of this year or next year or next next year, she couldn't hide from the day of losing control of the world. The G7 forum is a place to make up herself still strong like Rambo but infact this country is a zoombie. G7 has nothing constructive done to the world besides making phony, hollow promise or just announcement. The irony is this year G7 meeting held in Japan, a nation has been in stagnation for 40 plus years or maybe 40 years.

The world people were looking for a hope, a bright country to takeover the lead, this country name : Peoples Republic of China

Zelenskyy is scheduled to make a video presentation but I am predicting that he will hitch a lift on a plane from Europe and make a live appearance.

Thank you delegate from the PRC, your comments have been considered and laughed at. Your comedic relief is appreciated.

Because of the anti Japanese propaganda that had been going on for years in America I'm not saying you are racist, just America during WW2

oh dear. Why stop at half?

Who in the West has a competent leader right now? It most certainly isn't the U.S.

I've seen Momotaro. I'm not saying you are racist, just Japan during WW2.

It's no more inevitable than what Congress decides to do.

Stock market up. Inflation down. Not at war. Pax Americana continues.

Sorry, people don't want to be welded into their apartments and have their internet monitored for social credit.

Good. But I don't see how that adds to the conversation.

Good. But I don't see how that adds to the conversation.

You claimed the US was racist against Japan. I showed you Japan was racist against the US/UK. I agree there isn't much here to discuss so why did you go down this route?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Oh I see one point of confusion: I was talking about Momotaro: Sacred Sailors.

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

My claim is actually a common held belief and is basically taken as fact

All you have shown me is that you have a sore nerve about America's behaviour during WW2

I agree there isn't much here to discuss so why did you go down this route?

And you're still not adding to the conversation. You just seem intent in getting the last word.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

Oh I see one point of confusion: I was talking about Momotaro: Sacred Sailors.

Instead of watching a cartoon, check out Netflix, Greatest events of WW2 in colour; Episode 10. Hiroshima "To avoid a protracted ground war, the U.S. uses atomic bombs against Japan, causing unprecedented devastation -- and changing the course of history."

https://www.netflix.com/jp-en/title/80989924

You might learn something.

1 ( +3 / -2 )

My claim is actually a common held belief and is basically taken as fact

Just because more than one person believes something doesn't mean it is a belief free from bias or not appropriately balanced with other equally valid beliefs that put it in the correct context.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

doesn't mean it is a belief free from bias or not appropriately balanced with other equally valid beliefs that put it in the correct context.

What has bias got to do with it? The opinions that I refer to were made on the analysis of the most recent research with the cold light of historical distancing to bring the issue into focus.

My point is the ethics of the introduction of the bomb on the world stage and the US pacific war was racially driven

Double standards were held for Germany and Japan by the US; cite Dresden/Tokyo air raid and two atomic bombs (the second extremely more powerful) on two Japanese civilian populations. Worst still as you stated "Japan was regarded as the most likely target." over Germany.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

My point is the ethics of the introduction of the bomb on the world stage and the US pacific war was racially driven

You can keep arguing that racism was the reason all you want and I will keep coming back that 1) it was reported down that they should be ready to drop them on Germany and 2) it wasn't ready for Germany. Sorry but you don't get to cry racism here on one side only.

0 ( +1 / -1 )

If you honestly think America was going to A bomb Germany, and that therefore means it was ok to do it Japan, I'm afraid you are crying one sided racism
