Was thinking of going on that with my dear partner but after learning about their low safety standards, i said no way Pedro.
Not putting our lives at risk for a bit of fun you see.

wonder how many boats are operating. 300,000 passengers a year is getting on for 6000 a week (if they operate year-round, which i suppose they don't).... so at 30-ish passengers per, 200 or so trips a week.... 30 a day.... maybe 3 an hour?

I'm not sure you can conclude low safety standards when there has been one accident due to human error. They have learned and upgraded their safety so there would be even less risk than before.

Evidently not considering they had an accident resulting in the deaths of two people.
Now, though, it might be safer, especially for the boatmen.

Is this the tour where they use birds to catch the fish, then cough them up? If yes, I know this tour. With so many people on those boats, I'm not surprised to finally hear about this accident.

The accident occured due to human error (to be expected in absolutely any activity controlled by humans), so "low safety" is really not a factor here. I'd argue that they had a very impressive safety record so far and they've learned from this accident to improve upon that.
