Think they mean waves, rather than tides.

Looks like it's going to miss us on Amami, but more serious weather coming at the weekend.

Storm surge warnings are in effect, along with high tide warnings as well. Waves are expected to be 11 meters or higher.

Due to the high ocean temps this typhoon has built up strength rapidly and could reach "super typhoon" or Cat 5 strength by the time it passes just south of the main island of Okinawa. (If forecasts are to be believed)

This typhoon may change its direction to western part of Japan which is Kyushu region next week and could cause damage again.

Chances of this have dropped. This typhoon is going to stick around the Ryukyu's for the next 3 days or so, and will probably die out, and drop down to a tropical storm or less by the time it heads poleward.

But due to the typhoon, mainland is going to be getting HOT, due to the southern winds and hot air being pulled up.! Stay cool up there people!

JT needs to include either 2306 or "typhoon 6" in these reports so people who are in a risky area are crystal clear about the approaching storm. The Meteorological Agency labels this typhoon as T2306. It is important information.

And if you look at the brackets next to the T2306 (Khanun) the name is included as well! Oh thats on the JMA Tropical Cyclone information page!
