There are a lot of countries where women's rights are curtailed (i.e. Kuwait), but the US would like to have the option of going back, so these type of stories get circulated in the press so that another invasion can be more easily justified.

The United Nations Security Council will meet publicly to discuss human rights abuses in North Korea next week, a move requested by the United States

Obviously a preliminary to organizing another coalition as was used to illegally invade Iraq.

And people wonder why the North has pressed ahead with its weapons program.

So do they go into detail how the Korean people's rights were violated for 35 years during Japan's occupation of the peninsula?- Yeah didn't think so, especially since Abe 'revised' the textbooks.

Whatever ones opinion of Former Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso as a politician.

Taro Aso assessment of the threat to Taiwan, its people, the essential global shipping lanes through the Taiwan Strait, South/East China Sea is undisputed.

Actually no you and fellow JT hawks are as deluded and lost as Aso, on this issue and generally everything else.

But I will admit that occasionally a few of you make a good post, and that's more than most of you can own up to.

TaiwanIsNotChinaToday

China's ships need to be move out of the way if they are obstructing the Philippines from their EEZ. If that starts WW3, then so be it.

So you'd be willing to escalate to WWIII over this, would you? Do you even have an inkling what that would mean for millions of people around the globe? LOL

Thank God you'll never make it to the Oval Office.

In the environment in which the out of control American gun culture/"might is right" attitude reigns supreme, this incident (there have been others in which a child has gotten hold of a firearm) is not totally unexpected...in many of the mass shooting cases we've seen, the shooter acted on his own to procure weapons and plan out his attack, totally independent of his parents.

Well that's what happens LDP when you abandon the people in the countryside and overemphasize the urban centers, can't cry about it now.

Would be great if you put some sustsinable projects into play but somehow that doesn't seem likely, as LDP seems only interested in quick easy money i.e. Olympics, buying weapons, etc.

LOL Yes Aso Taro is on the same wavelength as all the neocons here.

And incidentally his folks (Aso Mining) used slave labor for their enterprises during the war...not only Koreans but also western POWs, so everything he says about needing to keep the peace and work with the Allies is very ironic.

And additional information:

[ Since the first official day of the event on Aug. 1, more than 1,000 people have reported heat-related illnesses due to the high temperatures and humidity of the venue, built on reclaimed land lacking any natural shade or cooling systems while the daytime temperatures were hovering between 33 degrees Celsius and 38 degrees Celsius.

Also, concerns are mounting over sanitation at the campground due to a lack of proper drainage systems. Online communities are filled with posts about toilets being out of order, difficulty setting up tents on the loose ground, food quality and swarms of mosquitoes and other bugs.

President Yoon Suk Yeol, who is on summer vacation, ordered the government to provide an "unlimited supply of ice water and air-conditioned buses" and "improve the quality of the food." ]

The Ministry of Education knows exactly what they are doing- profiting from the tidy system they've set up via making jukus and assorted texts necessary to jump through all the paper test hoops, then profit again from the TOEIC, then yet again from the fees that language schools/study abroad programs need to pay to be in business, etc.

Additionally, this system ensures that the elites' and other well-to-do's children are well-positioned to develop good fluency as they are the ones who can comfortably afford private tutors, study abroad, etc.

Two decades after the fall of Saddam Hussein, widespread frustration with the current state of Iraq is leading increasing numbers to express a negative view of life in the post-Saddam era.

When interviewed by a TV reporter, an older Iraqi woman said that “the sins of the current regime make the former regime look blameless.”

@Ossan

The US starting with Trump made an about face on its One China policy to deliberately problematize China and make them more than an economic rival.

[When governments permit counterfeiting or copying of American products, it is stealing our future, and it is no longer free trade.” So said US President Ronald Reagan, commenting on Japan after the Plaza Accord was concluded in September 1985.

Today resembles, in many respects, a remake of this 1980s movie, but with a reality-television star replacing a Hollywood film star in the presidential leading role – and with a new villain in place of Japan.]

China had an economy based on agriculture but was encouraged to open up and develop their economy.

When Deng Xiaoping decided to do so, western nations clambered and jockeyed to encourage further development.

Now China has succeeded western nations have decided to label China a threat in a replay of what happened in the 1980s to Japan.
