Police in Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture, have arrested a 33-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of stealing 8.42 million yen from his girlfriend’s bank account.

Police said Tsuyoshi Yoshii is accused of stealing the money between March 26 and April 4, Kyodo News reported. Police said he used his girlfriend’s smartphone to access her bank account on nine occasions to transfer money to his own account and that he also used her cash card at convenience store ATMs twice to steal money.

Police said the woman consulted them after she checked her account online and discovered the theft.

Police said Yoshii has admitted to the charge and are questioning him and the woman as to how he was able to gain access to her internet banking account.

Moral of the story: Avoid internet banking.

Avoid being lazy with recorded password inside keitai.

In Europe now, it is a 2 step process or biometric step at least.

That lazy guy's nickname was surely not Arsene Lupin.

The problem lies with the victim. How did he have access to her phone, password, and pin number for ATM?

Imagine you work hard and save money, then suddenly it's all gone easily bcos of the wrong man you met. Life is unfair

The problem isn't internet banking and the thief stole from her ATM too.

My bank sends an email whenever money is withdrawn.

And I am 100% sure that he gambled it away at a pachinko! This is why I don't mess with other people's money! My wife has her money in her account and I have mine! As long as we make sure we combine our money to keep things flowing, what she does with her money benefits me not!

Dang I know auto fill passwords are convenient but don’t turn that on for sensitive stuff like banking

No, part of the problem lies with the victim. The boyfriend is still a thieving barsteward.

Hard-earned money softly taken because of trust issues.

Why does it appear to be so many unemployed men in their 30s yet there is a shortage of workers? That man should get a job and earn. Internet banking is fine. The problem is if you're carefree with security which appears to be the case for the victim.

Thats a lot of money for the avg person - Potentially most of her life savings.

She will though learn to be more careful - I cant even withdraw that amount from my own account as I have set various limits that would need to be bypassed, and I would most likely notice.

Now she knows he is not husband material.

He should have known only women are legally allowed to steal men’s money in some way.
