Posted in: Tsai urges deeper Taiwan-Japan friendship in talks with Abe's widow See in context

It was very noble of Tsai to invite the mourning Japanese widow to Taiwan, which is a country, by the way. With Japanese media having largely forgotten the assassinated former PM, Tsai has generously put the Abe name back in the international and Japanese media. Tsai is the go to guy in the Pacific when it comes to benevolent diplomacy, fellowship and mutual understanding. Japan should be thankful for his generosity towards this pitiful woman in her time of need. This is especially true since Japan needs Taiwan more than Taiwan needs Japan. Just ask the people and government officials in Kumamoto. Without Taiwanese investment, the Japanese economy will collapse.

Biden and Kishida should lesr a lot from Yoon at Camp David. That is, providing Kishida is not assassinated before, and Biden lives that long. Due to the POTUS's advanced age , this venue is perfect. He can relax at his presidential retreat and pick the brains of the leaders of the two most powerful Asian democracies. Japanese cooperation with South Korea is tantamount to Japan;s survival. South Korea overtook Japan ages ago in electronics and ship building. Hopefully, Kishida will stop Japanese governmental nitpicking and bury the hatchet with Korea in Biden;s presence. Together, USA JPN and ROK are a force to be reckoned with and the CCP and DPRK should behave themselves along as they are united and vigilant in dealing with the communist agression.

As a bumbling musical artist and amateur at best video artist, I can appreciate Mr. Depp's art better than regular people. He said he was going thru a dark time. I get it. His art reflects it magnificently and is far better than anything I've ever created. It's nice to see Mr. Depp's talent recognized. It would be nice if NHK would show dubbed versions of 21 Jump Street. How cool would that be? Hopefully, NHK makers and shakers read Japan Today and will take this good advice. Perhaps someday Mr. Depp will do a gallery showing in Japan.

What a humiliating death this poor man suffered. After getting killed by someone dressed as a woman, he was decapitated. His widow must be shocked and troubled she can't cremate 100% of him. It is doubtful the police are capable of capturing her. Judging from the surveillance video footage, she came out ahead.

This is so sad. The report doesn't indicate the gender or ethnicity of the baby, so it is afe to assume that he/she is Japanese and therefore the perp is probably a down on his/her luck Japanese who couldn't afford to raise a child. Many Japanese live with their mommies until their 40s. It is a long term commitment having a child. Perhaps schools could teach more about birth control, abortion, and costs of raising children. Killing babies is unacceptable. I think orphanages have drop boxes for unwanted children, kind of like library's do for books, except it's for people. So sad. R.I.P. little guy and enjoy the beautiful harp music in the sky.

Unlike the police, at least Japan has ultra capable fire fighters and coast guardsmen. Too bad the boat sank, but at least they were safe. Maritime safety is very important. Hoping no tourists had to witness the horrible site.

Why can't they just drop it. Instead of policing and making Vegas safe for Japanese tourists they insist on reopening a cold case of gangsta rap murder. Tupac had too many enemies. It's a shame sensible artists like Lady Gaga weren't around to mentor him.

I am inspired by Taylor Swift. Despite men winning women's beauty pageants, she still identifies as a woman and therefore deserves the record for most number ones by a female. When archeologists dig up our society, they will find lots of Taylor Swift CDs. Hopefully, they'll be able to listen to them, too. It would be nice if Ms. Swift would play in Japan, now that they are pretending to be normal to attract tourists because they need money. Shed totally rock Tokyo Dome and Budokan, just lie Cheap Trick did back in the days of records.

This is exactly why Japan should be a tourist hotspot. The inferior infrastructure and culture of Europe can't compete with Japanese infrastructure and culture. Japanese food is the best in the world, too. I don't mind waiting two hours for sushi, but two hours to see some crummy crumbling Greek building is just crazy. Wake up people.

They did it to themselves. The CCP sacrificed their people and people in the Orient with their brazen misuse of fossil fuels to power child labor factories. They should learn from Japan. Japan has clean pollution, not nasty smog like China.

Oh my word! He stabbed his father for four whole hours according to this report. How strong his father must have been to survive getting stabbed for 240 minutes. Police forensics will surely be perplexed when they investigate this. Punish the son to the full extent of Japanese law. I think it is 25 years. Apparently lives aren't worth much here compared with civilized nations.

Well played Spark, well played. Show the evil neighbors you're hand early on the game. Excellent strategy. It's akin to sending a flyweight into the ring to face Tyson Fury, but giving Fury smaller gloves and the flyweight super fluffy gloves. At least Kim was able to get his name in the international news again. This is the only reason he does this stuff. It's like he is a musician who rents a live venue to play a show that he promotes but nobody comes to, just to get his name on the Internet and act like the DPRK actually stands for something. Kim, Putin, Biden, Trudeau and Xi all need mental help. Me too just thinking about this.

Only seven? I thought it would have been many more, based on how much the mass media sensationalized the severity of the rain, which was just a drizzle, by the way. From what I read here, it was death by poor decision making. Folks dwelling in domiciles near rivers and muddy hills should probably have gone to a friend's safer home or even one of the poorly conceived emergency shelters.

If they had charged OceanGate prices, they wouldn't suffer much financially. But, one has to ask, what were these people who wanted to see an active volcano thinking? Normal people go to the zoo, but don't jump into the tiger pen or alligator pit. Normal people go to Tokyo Sky Tree but don't try do cartwheels on the rails. Personally, I think the operators are not at fault.

Kim thinks it is a video game. He is delusional, paranoid and a narcissist. It is highly unlikely the US is spying on him. Biden;s America has bigger fish to fry and wouldn't waste time making kimchi of Supreme Leader Kim. Kim's grandiose claims and over estimation of the DPRK;s military might and know how does make for press that worries peace loving pacifist Japanese folks. They have no need to worry as South Korea is on top of it.

Looks like China learned a lesson from Japan --- but the wrong one! Stabbing innocent children is a big no-no anywhere in the world. This is a tragedy of epicurean proportions. While the children;s lives cannot be replaced, we can at least take solace in the fact that the evil Mr. Wu will be executed, and rightfully so. In Japan, he'd do jail time and eventually get released. At least China knows how to punish criminals really well. Japan should learn from them about this.

Just because she is a woman and probably won't fight back is no reason to harass her. The audience should be held liable. Security cameras could identify who was booing so the can be arrested.

Good ol' Jack. He's been dead for ages, but still manages to rile up his neighbors. Ethanol emissions are a serious matter. It is regrettable the neighbor is suffering from asthma now. The fungus sounds terrifying, too. Fungi are not good for the lungs. Instead of Tennessee whiskey, folks should support the superior bourbon of Kentucky.
