“68 years old, 68! Can you believe it?”

Many of today’s 68-year olds are fit and well and capable of committing any crime.

The Canadian kid is lucky he did it in Japan. In Singapore, he would have been arrested, indicted, and, if found guilty, whipped several times as punishment.

Punching a one-year-old boy to discipline him? The father needs to be disciplined for a very long time.

Posted in: S Korea says it respects IAEA report on Fukushima water release plan See in context

I don’t understand why Koreans are so concerned about the planned release of the radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean. All the ocean currents flowing off the coast of japan run from west to east and there’s zero chance of released water ever reaching Korea.

“He cannot leave Lebanon because of the Japanese prosecution. He therefore cannot respond [in person] to the summons to be charged in France.”

It’s Ghosn’s problem that he can’t leave Lebanon, not the French authorities’. Come on, Carlos, are you going to spend the rest of your life as a fugitive? Turn yourself in to the French prosecutors and prove your innocence if you can.

“Police said the man had tied one end of his pants around the toilet door in his cell and the other around his neck.”

Rather an unusual way to kill oneself.

“Well Japan are in the same axis with German with that time in case people forget.”

And Japan saved Polish Jews from Nazi persecution by issuing transit visas for them, in case you didn’t know.

Posted in: Hiroshima peace park and Pearl Harbor memorial will work together to promote peace See in context

I don’t see the point of signing a sister park arrangement. The attack on Pearl Harbor was an attack on a military base while the atomic bombings of the two Japanese cities were a genocide designed to kill civilian non-combatants. One cannot juxtapose the two.

Ennosuke and his parents thought that the younger Kabuki actor would be arrested, indicted and possibly convicted of sexual abuse charges. As a prestigious Kabuki family, they knew they would never have been able to stand the humiliation and disgrace. So they decided to escape from it all by ending their own lives.

“Why is the nurse’s gender of importance? If the nurse were not male, would it be mentioned?”

In languages where nouns have grammatical gender there should be none of this problem. And most people still think of a female nurse when they hear the word “nurse.”

It’s his privilege to file a lawsuit. But will a Lebanese court order be enforceable in Japan? He could have hired top-notch Japanese lawyers and filed a lawsuit against Nissan in Japan. Keep wasting your time and money, Carlos.

I think the main reason Sushiro sued the boy for damages is not to recover the damage he inflicted on the sushi chain but to make an example of him to discourage future copycat offenders. My guess is that somewhere along the lawsuit, they will reach an out-of-court settlement. Ruining the 18-year-old boy’s future would be a bad publicity for Sushiro.
