It is no way a democratic or even a semi-democratic country whatever that means. LOL! Why aren't you living in the planet's top country and why do you call yourself Rodney?

China....blabbing about taking Taiwan for almost a 100yrs and never doing it.

TEPCO has apologized many times, and continues to do so - as they well should, since they caused all this.

Have they? And here I am thinking they apologized by increasing rates for consumers essentially forcing them to pay for TEPCO's mistakes and incompetence.

Leave it to TEPCO to claim that it's some kind of success story and call it a milestone. They should be contrite, humble, and apologize for having to resort to this action not pump up their chests and declare it a success. Straight out of Orwell's 1984.

I wonder how many Japanese women out there are eyeing for him and his fat bank book.

I don't think it's just Japanese women.

Big gamble for Angels' management. Unless there are changes to the roster, hard seeing him agree to sign another contract with them. I don't think it's just the money as he already makes multi-millions in endorsements. I can see him sacrificing $$$ to be on a contending team.

Underrated bassist and a very good vocalist. The end was near when he refused to sing Take it the Limit live even though the crowd were screaming for it. Big fight between him and Glenn Frey about it. Left the band not too long after. One of those guys who got sick of touring. Can't blame him.

The Japanese gov't and mothers keep using domestic violence as an excuse but often there is no evidence of it even happening. This has been going on a long time especially when the spouse is a foreigner who just wants to be able to see and spend time with their children. We're not even talking joint custody because it doesn't exist in Japan. Just the ability to see their children.

How do they communicate. Most Japanese can’t speak English or French and most French do not like to speak English.

French used to be the official aviation language but now it's English. All commercial and military pilots must be able to speak English. It's mandatory.

Mental/psychological illness can have a physiological origin or cause. In some cases depending on the cause, they can be cured.

Great. Show us one clinical case of someone cured. Just one.

I can cite endless that validate mental illness cannot be cured, only treated so the patient may be able to function. You can't cite a single, bona fide example. It would be a Nobel Prize winning event.

Mental illnesses and disorders can have traumatic or physiological causes. Are you aware of anxiety disorders such as phobias. For some they can be debilitating to the point that people can't function normally. These can be treated with systematic desensitization and completely cure these people of the anxiety so that they never experience that anxiety again.

And what about physiological diseases and illnesses. How many can be cured? You'd be surprised how many can't be cured but just treated.

*-19**( +0 / -19 )*

Bertie is right. Psychiatry can only treat mental illness. Mental illness cannot be cured.

19 people so far have shown themselves to be woefully uninformed. You can look it up to become informed.

Mental/psychological illness can have a physiological origin or cause. In some cases depending on the cause, they can be cured.

Not all physiological illnesses and diseases can be cured. They have to be treated as well for example cancer. The notion that regular doctors only cure while psychiatrists only treat is ludicrous.

Psychiatrists are doctors (MDs) that often specialize in the brain and nervous system as well as medications used to treat or cure patients. They are doctors.

Maybe you should look it up and get informed.

If there weren't still popular with no demand, then nobody would pay $$$ and go to their shows. They'd be relegated to playing retro-medleys in dive bars. Their songs and albums still sell and are downloaded thousands of times even 50yrs after being originally released. For me it was the early 70's Stones with Mick Taylor, especially their live shows, that represents their zenith. Pure in-your-face rock'n'roll.

I think a lot of current bands, singers and musicians could learn a lot from bands in the 60's and 70's in terms of how to perform live which was critical to selling their music. Going on grueling long, major tours was the only form of promotion. Now so many rely on autotune to stay in pitch live, play far fewer shows, and don't need to rely solely on live shows to promote their music. And it shows.

garypenToday  03:29 pm JST

A. Puerto Rico is part of the US. And, B, I doubt Mexicans would be very interest in a US Men's Team stage match, either.

You're comparing apples to cupcakes. The only legitimate comparison would be between this match's viewership in these specific markets to an equivalent US Men's Team match in the same markets. That is the only valid comparison.

Obviously any soccer game's viewership in the US, regardless of men's or women's, is going to pale in comparison to the Superbowl. It's soccer. In the US. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure that one out.

Comparing soccer to American football is comparing apples to oranges? Seriously? You mean soccer isn't a sport? So you can't compare MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA or their playoffs/championships because that's also comparing apples to oranges.

Or is it because comparing women's sports to men's sports is apples to oranges? So one can only compare the same sport across gender? The average viewers for the men's world cup in the US was 12mil. That's the average and it's double. The women's first match brought in only 6mil. I doubt they'll even average 4mil.

You're only claiming that it's apples to oranges because one is very popular and the other isn't. I don't think you understand the concept of apples to oranges.

Comparing Game of Thrones to the women's world cup is apples and oranges. I used that to show just how low 6mil is.

Regardless, the fact is that less than 2% of the US population watched the women's world cup soccer match.

21mil people watched the men's world cup match between Mexico and Argentina. Soccer is the most popular sport in Mexico. If even half watched the US team's match, that's over 10mil. For a country that's obsessed with soccer, that isn't a reach.

Women's soccer undoubtedly is growing in popularity but yeah.....6mil viewers worldwide isn't impressive at all.

If it was actually worldwide, you would be correct. Fox Sports and Telemundo are US broadcast/cable networks for US-based viewers. (Or those connecting via US VPN servers.)

Telemundo also broadcasts in Mexico and possibly Puerto Rico.

Even if 6mil is only in the states, it's not that great. For comparison, the Superbowl averages over 100mil. Games of Thrones averaged over 30mil/episode. 6mil viewers is less than 2% of the US population.

Women's soccer undoubtedly is growing in popularity but yeah.....6mil viewers worldwide isn't impressive at all. It's rather disappointing. And saying that it was the most watched soccer event in the US after the men's WC final, isn't saying that much considering the low popularity of soccer in the US.

If he's traded, his new team will offer him a new, long term contract. If he likes his new team and contract, he'll stay. If he doesn't, he can test free agency. He isn't just a rental.

With all his millions of dollars in endorsements, he may not ask for a figure that sinks a team. He said that he wants to win a WS. To do that, the team needs to have a roster that can achieve. Why would he want a repeat of the situation on the Angels.

Six hits, nine strikeouts, in seven innings and win would be a good day for any pitcher. Just unfortunate that four of those hits were HRs. But it's MLB. Good hitters can turn mistakes into HRs.

Did you read the article? It's not a blockbuster my any stretch of the imagination.

I read it. It's brought in $235mil after just four days. Underperforming in terms of projections but it will likely still bring in blockbuster numbers in the end.

There's rarely anything truly original anymore. How many mafia, time travel, revenge, etc., themed movies keep coming out. Tons. It's more about what you do in terms of story, dialogue, direction, acting to make it unique and interesting. The bad ones fail because they write crappy, woke stories trying to bank off established IP's while making pathetic attempts to replace very popular, original characters with ones/actors nobody cares about. Marvel, Star Wars, and now Indiana Jones are examples of this.
