The North Atlantic has become an emblematic observation point for the warming of seawater worldwide due to the effects of climate change caused by greenhouse gas emissions.

No excuses, no misleading comment can ignore this clear conclusion, the extremes in temperature being recorded are not something cyclic, natural or benign. They are caused by human derived climate change and will have serious consequences.

Blindly calling this justified warning "fearmongering" is the favorite tool of antiscientific groups that want other people to be in denial of reality.

These alleged extremes in temperature are cyclic, natural, and benign in the long term.

Small sample as records have only been kept since the 80s.

The experts in the field say this is significative, obviously a personal appeal to authority to contradict them is not valid from an anonymous account.

The fear mongering is amping up here.

If you are unable to contradict the conclusions nor demonstrate the warnings are correct calling the article fear mongering just shows an antiscientific bias.

These alleged extremes in temperature are cyclic, natural, and benign in the long term.

The experts clearly conclude your claim is false, and since you could not bring any evidence to support it while they do have the evidence on their side the only logical conclusion is that they are the ones right.

You got it wrong, Raw Beer: you reply to the incontrovertable evidence with "but it's not man-made".

This does not bode well for the storm season.

Going on a new tack messaging toned down.

Anyway let's see if the US will listen to it's own agency

The article below tries to explain the high North Atlantic temperatures, and suggests CO2 plays only a minor part. I confess that I don't understand much - it's complicated and I'm getting old. Generally, I'd expect any CO2 increase to have some kind of warming effect. But it's probably good to compare different points of view.

The worst case scenario, the shutting down of the ocean currents, is given only a small chance of happening this century. Still, it is shocking that we would even contemplate such a doomsday plot.

True.

And interestingly, the summit of Monte Bianco in Italy, which is an ice and snow dome, has actually increased in height over the past several years.

Nature doing what nature does.

False.

Mt Blanc (Italian Mt. Bianco, Eng Mount White) is a meter lower than the last measurement in 2021.

Nature doing what nature does.

So not true that you felt the need to use arguments that were easily debunked.

The article makes it clear this is not cyclic, natural nor benign. Just baselessly calling the experts wrong without presenting any evidence only shows a deep antiscientific bias, enough to claim things easily demonstrated as mistaken.

It's been forecast since at least 1990 and nobody seems to give a damn.

trump: 'Climate change, it's a myth! Bluuughhhh!!!!!'.

We need to start listening to the scientists, they're the ones with the degrees and who have studied and worked in these fields. Yet America just wants to keep on lolly lolly lolly in its jingoistic fantasy world while some European nations are striving to go green without us. America needs to take the lead again and start pursuing cleaner energy. I'm sick and tired of all these stupid 'blood for oil' wars we've been having.
