Posted in: Lost and laughing: 5 embarrassing stories of tourists in Japan See in context

From what I remember of the story the guy was Spanish, but everyone just assumed it was a Brit on the piss. Either way must have had significant mental health problems - are we still ok to make fun of that?

No he was British... And had been on the lash. So the mental issues were temporary and alcohol induced (like many of us on a Saturday night after a game of rugby).

Hot day. He needed a cool down! Funny incident. He didn't hurt anyone or vandalize anything.

He will likely still be making fun of it himself.

If we truly want to reduce the carbon in the worlds atmosphere then China and India have to stop their huge and growing carbon emissions.

China is number 1 emitter, but the USA is 2nd. India is 3rd.

On a per capita basis, the USA easily beats the other two as the largest polluter.

Mad considering they have no problem with China releasing more highly contaminated water as part of normal operations of their nuclear power plants.

Lunatic fringe populist followers whipped up to a frenzy.

Khanun isn’t even a typhoon any more!

It's still a tropical rotating storm or tropical cyclone, which are the proper terms for this kind of system.

How you name it or set the parameters for what you call it doesn't matter.

The wind might be downgraded but the precipitation risks still remain very real.

My friend's daughter speaks perfect English and is regularly marked down on her tests because her answers are not exactly as written in the examiner/teachers book. (Her answers are far more eloquent and grammatically correct!)

The parrot fashion way of teaching in Japan doesn't help Japanese students at any level of language ability.

I know a Todai professor who told me that the radioactive waste is already being used for concrete and spread all over Japan.

My cousin has a friend that he just met, who's cleaning lady said that she heard that the world is ending on Tuesday. Blimey must be true. Better get my affairs in order.

Yes. Even his own party faithful realized what an utter narcissistic maniac he is. They realized that he was hell bent of lining the pockets of himself and his sycophants, while destroying the country.

The BBC will continue to deceitfully hide the damage that Brexit has done

I would suggest that the fact the the left call the BBC rightwing and the right call the BBC leftwing, then maybe the BBC is doing something right.

So the buffoon couldn't handle the result of the enquiry committee that his own government appointed.

He has single handedly destroyed the tory party and is now peddling his martyr conspiracy theories and blaming everyone but himself.

He literally screwed up everything he did in office, from international trade deals to domestic policies.

Post truth. Polarisation. Populism. It's all embedded in this disgusting man who is all consumed by his own ambition for power in any form.

What a clown. What a crook. What a narcissist. What a waste of good oxygen.

And now he throws a tantrum and resigns so that he can convince his worshippers that he was hard done by, with a rambling and dribbling diatribe of self pity, while over the last few months he has been neglecting his constituents, refusing to do his job and been of speaking tours around the world and making millions of pounds.

Hoping he has finally been flushed down the toilet so we can start to rebuild a broken country.

However I feel that he will still be around to whip up chaos in the background revelling in his own maniacal pontifications and with his loyal band of lunatics praising him wherever he goes.

Even if he did appeal and was found guilty again, the Trump worshippers would find an excuse or a conspiracy to justify their messiah.

One De Niro I recommend, Heat, bit violent of course, but the story evolves nicely, character development etc.

Enjoyable movie, typical Michael Mann, but the last line just ruins it for me. Very cringy.

Just confirms what we knew all along. He's a sex abuser and likely a rapist. Epstein lackey.

But his mad zealots will always support him. He could be raping a child in the street and the Trump nutters would find a way excuse and continue worshipping him.

No point to even try to reason with the brainwashed.

…and the Protesters in Yellow? Irrelevant Parasites. Disloyal to their very roots. Toss them out, take away their citizenship and let them find solace in a Republic of their choice.

Ha! There's been republicans in the UK for centuries. But they are only a problem when they go full "Ollie Cromwell" and try to impose their views on a majority that don't agree with them.

The protesters had the right to protest yesterday, which was fine. The ones that got arrested were the ones that tried to disrupt the enjoyment majority of the people.

(i.e. "I don't like something so no one else should either!")

What a pathetic farce, while the island is sinking..

And yet the British public manage to buy and consume over 100 million pints of beer over the coronation weekend.

A national embarrassment. It's 2023! We no longer need a hereditary, consanginious, family as a so-called figure head.

Charles the last.

Not my king.

Fair enough opinion.

But he's absolutely my King... And this is the opinion of about 70% of the British public. Loved the coronation. Long Live the King!

I wish they'd do daylight savings here. During summer when I leave my house at 7am it's already 32 degrees on some days. I'd love it if they moved the clocks back two hours, it would make going to work easier and we'd have sunlight until 10pm then.

Exactly... Daylight at 4am and darkness at 7pm is ridiculous.

Could shift the whole country 2 hours forward and it would be terrific and save a boat load of energy.

Rei's dad removed all his business from Japan because the stagnant old business elite, joined at the hip with stagnant old political elite, tried to destroy him.

However the family seem to still engage in smart philanthropic initiatives inside Japan to try to improve society.

The Murakami family know that without proper modernisation and equality in business and politics, Japan will always be in decline.

Good luck to Ms. Saito.

There is one guy in detention. And a few are being questioned by prosecutors. So they are trying hard to make things stick. But why a suspended sentence? Terrible. I guess most of it is smoke and mirrors.

Judged on how perfectly they execute the 90⁰ bow and how many times they shout "regrettable"... (A few overacted teary moments doesn't hurt either.)
