Posted in: What is the best way for humans, especially city dwellers, to observe wildlife without encroaching on their habitat or putting them in zoos or aquariums? See in context

Go for walks/hikes for exercise and some fresh air and sun/rain exposure. If you spot wildlife that’s serendipity. I have generally found areas where they tend to be, often places with food sources. You can respect their choice, and observe from a distance.

Yohan, great move there. Interesting post. Thanks.

Having experienced fully the joys and limitations of living in a city condo, many years ago I moved into a seven-room house on a hill in the woods with parking for several cars. I can make as much noise as I like as the nearest neighbors are down the hill. The rent is only ¥50,000 @ month for everything.

Good to hear a positive outcome for one of these flags.

The majority of these well-meaning returns do not go as hoped or planned. Even if a family can be located, many simply wish to leave the past alone.

A titanic struggle that swung back and forth, and could just as easily have gone either way.

Today’s match might prove to have been historically significant as a younger generation finally break through such long-term domination at the top.

Posted in: Fury among aid groups as U.S. approves cluster bombs for Ukraine See in context

None of the parties involved has signed any anti-cluster bomb treaty. Russia has been using them on Ukrainian soldiers, inside Ukraine.

The most important part however has been (deliberately?) left out.

Ukraine has repeatedly stated that they want to open up the outer cases for the individual bomblets to drop singly from drones. Without this stated purpose, the article appears inflammatory and designed to provoke indignation.

Motor Racing

The big problem with the track limits this time around was that there is still some ambiguity, the stewards take time to process the protests, and many drivers were not told of their warnings until it was too late to do anything about it.

Good to see Ferrari gaining some form.

With the Kishida attack, the local inhabitants all said they spotted the unknown young guy pushing his way forwards through the middle of the fishing village crowd to where he could light the fuze and toss a bomb at the Prime Minister. Luckily they jumped him before he could toss another.

Time for some police self-reflection, no?

The water in the temporary tanks is not safe. The tanks are rusting and some of them have actually shifted position.

So, the water will be filtered again, and then, as it is piped towards the ocean, sea water will be added to the flow, so by the time the mixture blends with seawater offshore it should be pretty much the same as any outflow from nuclear reactors around the globe.

If there’s a better way to deal with the problem, like evaporation pools in parallel, and/or a longer undersea discharge tunnel, then that sounds good to me too.

All the important points of Japanese law have been covered in among the posts above, Rodney.

Whatever you carry on public transport must be well-wrapped, out of sight, and obviously not covered in a way that it/they could be drawn easily. A case would be best.

You wll also need a believable story if in the unlikely event you do get stopped; the police will attempt to challenge or confirm your story by calling or visiting any persons you mention.

You need to pre-build in layers of plausibility under Japanese law, to prove your innocence against doubting eyes. Afterwards is too late for regrets.

Just in case anyone hasn't read the article, the blast destroyed the facade of a building which houses the Paris American Academy Design School. There was a strong smell of gas. There might still be someone alive inside.

The person who manages a food shop a few doors away was Rahman Oliur.

This news can be politically positive or negative depending on your world view.

Nothing lasts forever, though one team does tend to dominate for several seasons.

The Mercedes run came to an end. Toyota's dominance at Le Mans was broken this year by the last-minute weight-penalty rule change, and by the superb Ferrari team who stepped in so neatly.

Red Bull are being reeled in by the opposition, though, slowly but surely. The season is still young!
