Very annoying and prices have gone up, damn and blast.

Luckily me next few trips are Tokushima, Nagoya and Sapporo.Sapporo is fine as we stay with my partners mummy and my partner has her own self contained flat on the premises you see. The first two places seem to still have decent prices after the end of August.

Too many tourists lately I’m afraid, hopefully the JR Pass price hikes soon will deter many of them.

if you live in Osaka and travel to other locations for pleasure then you are a domestic tourist. 80% of the tourists to Kyoto are domestic.

No I’m not, please check the definition of tourist vs traveller. At the places I visit, myself or my dear partner have friends or associates. Tourism means something else you see.

Domestic tourism:

A person who travels to places of attraction or participates in tourism activity within a country of residence for at least a period of 24 hours but not more than 265 days.

What Does Domestic Travel Mean?

The definition of domestic travel is simple: it's traveling within the borders of your own country. Domestic travel can include flights, road trips, or train rides.

Too many tourists lately I’m afraid

Personally, I'm pleased to see people back on vacation in Japan, enjoying the many wonderful things the country has to offer.

Too many tourists lately

This is quite literally the regular number of tourists.

Since January 2020 my spouse and self travelled on 33 domestic trips for 4-8 days at a time. Kanko Densha tourist trains were fabulous and the food was amazing. Hotels were empty so we could book top floors and super room(s) at very reasonable prices. We must have received at least ¥150,000 in coupons.

We sort of missed the opportunities we had to shoot photos that looked like travel guidebooks because there were no people in them to block the views. For example, in Arashiyama for the bamboo forest, not a person in view the whole trek. All the common sites on dramas for TV were as if we rented them ourselves.

The mask-wearing was given and showing our vaccination record was hassle-free. Granted, some restaurants closed early or never opened again, but the service was like wow.

We miss it, but so be it. Still traveling but not this summer as we predicted the crowds to come here, but feel things will slow down.

Be safe everyone and keep healthy.
