Is it just me, but if anyone on Japan Today criticizes anything to do with Japan, it seems to be downvoted. Almost nationalistic

It's just you. You haven't noticed the massive downvoting against anything pro-USA or pro-Japan? I could post that the sky is blue and get 10 downvotes from the China and Russia supporters who inhabit this site.

Against the backdrop of rising anti-Vietnamese sentiment and mistreatment in Japan,

You mean the rising resentment towards increasing criminal activity by Vietnamese immigrants.

As for mistreatment, Southeast Asians are mistreated equally. Vietnamese are not singled out.

After noticing that his firearm was missing about 35 minutes later, the sergeant contacted the store and went back to retrieve the handgun. No bullets were missing. The staff reportedly told the police they were unaware that the holster contained a handgun.

LOL this is so Japan. Cope leaves gun with bullets in Convenience Store toilet. Takes 35 minutes to realize he didn't have his gun. The gun in holster was still there. Convenience store staff did not recognize that it was a gun holster. Jeeeeezzzz....

Iraq shown to the world what will happen if a country not had it, compare that to North Korea for example. So far no troops goes beyond 38th parallel north, up to today.

North Korea has been protected by China(PRC) a nuclear power since 1961. There is no need for NK to have nukes. No troops have crossed north of the 38th parallel because South Korea has no interest in invading North Korea. In contrast, the preamble to the North Korean constitution calls for the "unification" of the Korean Penninsula under the Kim Regime.

And in actual fact Japan lost Taiwan It's new found status as an independent internationally recognized republic of Formosa by invading and taking It's sovereignty.

Which wasn't necessary.

Total nonsense. Formosa belonged to China(Qing Dynasty) and was handed over to Japan by the Treaty of Shimonoseki (1895). Formosa's independence lasted 151 days between the hand over from the Qing to Japan. Formosa, previously a Spanish and Dutch colony before Qing China was never recognized as independent by any country in the world. Japan did not "invade" a sovereign nation.

The war is going to end with nuclear at this rate.

America has turned Ukraine into a GRAVEYARD.

Can you answer these questions? Think hard.

Raw BeerToday  04:34 pm JST

Around 140,000 people died in Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 and 74,000 in Nagasaki three days later, when the United States dropped atomic bombs on the two Japanese cities days before the end of World War II.

Yeah, 100s of thousands of Japanese were killed by the US nuclear attacks, and now Japan is supporting the US in their proxy war against Russia. Japan is supporting the wrong side...

So a country that has given up waging war in their constitution should be supporting a country that is invading another country? No Buckwheat, Japan is siding with the nations that believe invading another country, much less threatening to use nuclear weapons if anyone dares stop them, is simply wrong.

Anyone who justifies the dropping of 2 A-bombs on cities filled with civilians, old men, women and children to a military attack on a military naval base is short on intellectual capability.

So you'd have left them to suffer in the hands of the Soviet barbarians would you? Given a choice I'd prefer my demise to be quick.

People who don't read what someone writes and responds on a false premise are also short on intellectual capability.

Anyone who justifies the dropping of 2 A-bombs on cities filled with civilians, old men, women and children to a military attack on a military naval base is short on intellectual capability.

Luckily that didn't happen and instead key munitions factories and civilians training for an invasion were targeted, thereby ending the war and saving over 100,000 allied prisoners lives.

Oh it happened. Americans with any education or intelligence know this, including those who defend the use of the bomb like myself. Your comment is nothing but hate mongering trolling.

"The school was the closest school to ground zero of the Hiroshima bombing. They lost about 400 students and more than 10 teachers, and the building took great amounts of damage from the atomic bomb dropped on August 6, 1945."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honkawa_Elementary_School_Peace_Museum

"On August 6, 1945, Shima Hospital was completely destroyed by the atomic bombing of Hiroshima; the atomic bomb detonated directly above the building and the blast was directed downwards.[3] Because the epicenter of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima was over the hospital, the hypocenter, or ground zero, was the hospital itself.[5] All the medical staff and the patients who were in Shima Hospital, about 80, died instantly"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shima_Hospital#Atomic_bombing

"We obtained data on the population distribution in Hiroshima and Nagasaki before the 1945 bombings and quantified the impact of adjustment for population density on radiation risk estimates for mortality (1950–2003) and incident solid cancer (1958–2009). Population density ranged from 4,671 to 14,378 people/km2 in the urban region of Hiroshima and 5,748 to 19,149 people/km2 in the urban region of Nagasaki. Radiation risk estimates for solid cancer mortality were attenuated by 5.1% after adjustment for population density, but those for all-cause"

" Among survivors who were 10–14 years of age in 1945, there was a positive association between population density and risk of all-cause mortality (per 5,000-people/km2 increase, relative risk = 1.053, 95% confidence interval: 1.027, 1.079) and solid cancer mortality (per 5,000-people/km2 increase, relative risk = 1.069, 95% confidence interval: 1.025, 1.115)."

It is interesting to see Japan being buddy buddy to a government led by the CPV - Communist Party of Vietnam.

That says a lot about how horrible China is. Even the Vietnamese don't want to be on their side. Both US and JPN naval vessels have been visiting Vietnam. Vietnamese military officers have been meeting the USN in Hawaii for over 10 years. The problem with China is not that they are "communist" but that they are "fascist". A little late to be finding all this "interesting".
