A lotus flower is seen at Shinobazu Pond in Tokyo's Ueno Park on Sunday morning. The flower, which usually blooms in mid-July in Tokyo, attracts hundreds of people to in the early morning hours when all the petals are open before they close later in the day. We had some lotus flowers similar to this one in our local park a few weeks ago. Sadly someone cut and stole them during the night. Happens frequently at our park. Sunflowers have disappeared over the weekend too.

We've had two so far in our pond. Such a beautiful flower but a shame they only last 1 or 2 days at the most.
