Currently 11 degrees celsius in my hometown.

The Las Vegas weather service warned that assuming high temperatures naturally come with the area's desert climate was "a DANGEROUS mindset! This heatwave is NOT typical desert heat".

And still some deny climate change, often for political expediency. Shame on you.

Regarding above: Death Valley, California reaching 55C ( 131F). It could happen, but a normal summer day there is 47C (117F), so temperatures approaching the 55 do occur in some summers - say, 52 or 53. A summer with no 50C ( 122F) there would be rather unusual. By the way, the official record for Death Valley of 57C(134F) occurred long ago in 1913, although its accuracy is somewhat contested.

With advancing urbanization, the concentration of concrete and asphalt in the expanding metropoli augment solar heating. Coupled with the advancement of measuring technologies, placed in the newly urbanized areas, and it's no surprise that "record" readings occur. Localized changes in micro - climate are all the Earth is experiencing.

It's curious why JT attracts such a large contingent of global warming deniers. Some undoubtedly derive a sense of their own worth by adopting a 'contrarian' position on most things in life, play at being 'intellectual' and have become adept at cherry picking data to obscure what's happening before their own eyes. Some seem motivated by their identification with political tribes, or antipathy to progressivism. Either way, it won't help them or us when the water in the pot all boils away.

It gets hot in the summer and when it does take a dip in the ocean to cool down-not difficult to do…

Had to laugh when you quoted The Guardian. The paper's editorial policy is to take hyperventilation to the next level by referring to it not as boring old climate change, but the "climate emergency." No room for objective judgment there.

Those advancements in measuring technologies include satellite imagery which show the polar ice caps shrinking at an alarming rate.

How is it that ‘localized changes’ are happening all over the world?

It’s always happened and we didn’t notice because we didn’t have technology to measure it?

As a theory that’s just plain idiotic.

I live in California. It has been one of the coolest summers so far in decades. There are always a few weeks that temperatures go into the 90s during summer. It is normal, but now news media sensationalizes it like it is quite abnormal.

When denial of the reality of climate change becomes untenable for those politically opposed to governments acting in the interest of the general public, they'll switch from arguing that governments shouldn't act because climate change isn't unnatural or is overstated to arguing that it is understated or unstoppable or nature will adapt to it without missing a beat.

I know that your fellow climatologists might disagree with you and then you would have your credibility questioned, but why don't you publish a story about what is really happening? Have the courage to stand up to your colleagues and tell people via scholarly publications or even magazine or news articles. One of the reasons people fear global warming is that you climatologists who fear damage to your reputations won't speak up.
