Hopefully the first of many they will have to intercept. There is no need for a bridge connecting thieves to their stolen territory.

Russia reports

Maybe in 20 or 30 years anything 'reported' by a Russian source will be believed by any other than the extremists in their anti-democracy, pro-authoritarian herds. Russian leaders have lied too often, just like their social media warriors.

What is wrong with the world? Don’t we learn from our past, it’s horrendous.

Yes, Russia should leave Ukraine immediately.

As has been said many times before, you don't have to comment on Ukraine articles.

You need to send your postcard to Putin c/o Kremlin.

Not certain but could be a Storm Shadow, of which they now have a partially intact one.

The AZOV commander will be afforded no quarter under the laws of war should he be captured. In the photos he is the one in the long sleeve light blue shirt with moustache. The other four are Svyatoslav Palamar (second photograph from right bottom), Serhiy Volynsky, Oleh Khomenko and Denys Shleha. The two with navy color shirts are some of them.

The good news is their biometric data - fingerprints, DNA swab and retina scans - have been taken so they cannot just assume another identity, play dumb and think they will escape the firing squad. Bounties are probably being organized now.

The duplicity here is astounding. On top of the above, we now have the admission that they were behind an attack on civilian infrastructure.

The regime in Kyiv is displaying it's not to be trusted.

They already got out of Russia once because it crapped out on the battlefield so badly. Odds are the same thing would happen again. And I don't think the geneva conventions say they don't apply on repeat captures.

I just want it to stop, whoever can do it I’d buy them or drink or a thousand.

My family were cannon fodder for decades in the 20th century, war is never good. My uncle received the Military Cross for single handedly killing 4 Japanese in a machine gun nest in WWII.

He hated war after and knew there was no right or wrong and never to hate the people you are against, just those who force the mostly working class to do the dirty work.

Sorry but saying there will be no invasion hours before go time will still take the cake for duplicity.

It upsets all of us. Unfortunately, Putin doesn't care if it upsets you.

ffs

the country that started the war can end it, or not.

I wish he would, can’t stand to see this.

Don’t we progress?

Zelensky flew with them on Czech govt plane to Lviv - the heartland of Bandera-ism.

They are not even from the south east or remotely close but that didn't stop them taking over Mariupol many years before the Russians turned up to liberate it - and taking the civilian population hostage when they did.

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

russia needs to man up and take it to the next level. Putin is too soft. He plays the long game, but Nazism is growing in Europe at an alarming rate. Latvia is fining citizens ¥45000 for celebrating Russia’s defeat over Nazi Germany.

Millions of men fought in WW2 to defeat the Nazis and the Imperialist Japanese. They were never "canon fodder" as you claim. Had the Nazis not been defeated, probably today you would be speaking German.

So you are pro-war, Rodney?

It's interesting they are not showing of their tattoos.

They have some really extremist ink heavily associated with a certain regime in Germany, if you get my drift...

Dear me.

We need better ‘influencers’.

10 ( +14 / -4 )

So we’ve had the Nazi thing.

Anyone want to run with ‘corruption’ or get upset that people are calling Putin short when Zelenskyy is also short?

We are waiting to be ‘influenced’.

6 ( +10 / -4 )

Clearly a PR stunt designed to divert people's attention from the beached-mini-whale that is going nowhere fast with heavy losses.

Realistically this doesn't change a thing on the battlefront. But I'll bet they won't throw their impending party at a pizza restaurant.

Last October, a massive explosion severely damaged the Kerch bridge — a key transport and supply route for Russian troops in Crimea.

Correct name of bridge is Crimean bridge. It is a civilian infrastructure, transport and supply route of citizens of Crimea.

Headline also makes no sense since Russia never told that Crimea was "annexed" by them...editor?

Hopefully the Ukrainians will be able to recover the Crimea peninsula. Russia has occupied it for about 9 years now, that's 13 years too long! It's Ukrainian territory, not Russian.

Putin started this war, based on his lies and excuses. He can quit any time he wants. The ball's in his court.

Fairly sure it was a Russian victory over Nazi Germany, with the allied forces. Did a google search on Latvia fining citizens ¥45000, but nothing comes up so I doubt your assertions.

I would like to see articles saying Ukraine missiles hit their targets in Crimea rather than getting intercepted, but it is what it is.

Correct name of bridge is Crimean bridge. It is a civilian infrastructure, transport and supply route of citizens of Crimea.

It is also a military supply bridge where military supplies flow through illegally annexed Crimea into Russian controlled territories in Ukraine.

If it had no military significance, it wouldn't have been targeted.

So you are pro-war, Rodney?

about a million times I say, peace. If persecuted Russian speaking Ukrainians who hold Russian passport want to reunite to Russia by a 94-96% referendum, its their choice.

no need for war. Just except. The four regions have resources, minerals, sea access. Ukraine can just have a normal trading partnership. No need for this insanity. Zelensky is holding the whole world to ransom, but he has a boss.

time to stop. Back in the day I did demining in Cambodia and Laos for a short time as a volunteer. Now US will give cluster bombs and UK depleted uranium munitions.

do you know how many legless, armless civilians I have seen? Try about 20 a day, just in my areas.

so know, I am not pro war. But it has to stop NOW.

you have a better suggestion?

-8 ( +4 / -12 )

you have a better suggestion?

Why, yes. Yes I do.

Kick the Russians collective ass so hard that they go back on their side of the line and stay there.

Oh, and seize their illegal foreign assets and appropriate them towards a down payment on the approximate $1 trillion in damage that it has inflicted on it's BS invasion.

Between the two of those measures, maybe the Russians will learn a valuable lesson about living in an interconnected society.

One thing is for sure, appeasing a fascist doesn't work. Didn't work in 1939. Won't work now.

Go home or die. There is no 3rd option.

No it's not. If enough Spanish speaking Texans voted to be reunited with Mexico, won't make it happen.

no need for war. Just except. The four regions have resources, minerals, sea access.

So you are advocating for Russian imperialism? These are part of Ukraine. Russia can't have them.

do you know how many legless, armless civilians I have seen? Try about 20 a day, just in my areas.

And yet you say nothing about Russia using 40% dud cluster bombs on civilian cities.

so know, I am not pro war. But it has to stop NOW.

you have a better suggestion?

Putin and his troops leave Ukraine.

Russia reports intercepting a missile over Crimea.

Yeah, right. As if Crimea was a part of Russia. Crimea doesn't belong to you.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Crimea was an administrative gift by Khruschev in 1954 that transferred the government of Crimea from the Russian SFSR to the Ukrainian SSR.

Considering Kyiv has been trying to de-Sovietize their country and purge all manner of reminders of the USSR - an entity branded illegitimate and whose decisions are called illegal - getting rid of the biggest present from the USSR should be a welcome development. Plus 99% of people speak Russian.

-7 ( +3 / -10 )

This doesn't even make sense.

This doesn't even make sense.

What doesn't? Statues, monuments, names, cultures, history and even people have been pulled down, changed, cancelled or eradicated in the name of removing the stain of the USSR.

Surely the single biggest legacy, Crimea, would be a welcome removal too.

AZOV battalion poster boys for what is all wrong in Ukraine! Returned from Turkey against the rules of their initial release. Says it all really!

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

JJE

Surely the single biggest legacy, Crimea, would be a welcome removal too.

No, it wouldn't.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

Well, that's irrelevant anyway. What matters is the reality that Crimea has been repossessed and had a vote in which they clearly broke from Kyiv. It's gone and it's not coming back.

To pretend it will ever be taken militarily, let alone with a half-baked counter offensive is wishful thinking.
