We're not going to see barbie until after we've seen Oppenheimer. Which Japan seems to suggest we won't be watching Barbie.

You reap what you sow.

There are many ALT's who have certificates and skills in teaching languages, but they can't utilize those skills since MEXT decrees that Japanese Teachers should be the Lead teacher, which in turn means the focus of classes is on 'getting through the textbook/curriculum' with constant interruptions for sports and music festivals. Meanwhile BOE's continue the downward spiral of awarding contracts to the lowest bidder...being dissatisfied and switching companies again at the next contract season...which in turn has bred instability as dispatch companies pay the lowest salary possible and request 'extra' from ALT's who must seek 2nd jobs to make ends meet.

leo TToday 08:45 pm JST

I am talking about foreign tourists, local tourist behave.

LOL...are you talking about the same local people who leave my street covered in cigarette buts and conbini trash daily??

Trash is a real problem...but tourists (and locals) will act responsibly if they have a place to dispose of it, rather than steak dinners tax money should be spent on bins and regular collection.

It's unacceptable to pay such high city taxes and be told 'erm...we don't have enough power for you.'

I don't think we need to count 'waves'. Covid is endemic now. In my opinion it would be more accurate for them to describe 'Covid season' is here again. Coverage and full reporting is important though. I just don't think 'wave' is quite the right expression anymore.

I'm fine with people smoking outside. What annoys me is when the addicts decide your corner parking space will be their little smoking place (tellingly just out of sight of their office), and proceed to leave butts all over the place. It got so bad our building had to set up no smoking signs to drive them away.

Hmmm...I agree it's impossible to compare drivers across eras; they can only race the cars they have. But...Senna had 6 wins in the fast Lotus, and the rest with the powerful Mclaren team, So he hardly took cars that had no right to be there to the front. He eas an incredible driver nonetheless. As is Verstappen.

Posted in: Which martial art would you recommend to someone wanting to learn a means of self-defense? See in context

Hahah!

Boxing is the obvious choice. Easy and quick to learn and effective. In time you'll build good cardio for going 'bop!' on someone's nose and then running away.

All the other arts take at least months of practice just to learn the basics.

Tattoos have absolutely nothing to do with how well you do your job, or the potential you have to do a job well. Employers discriminating based on body art alone, due to outdated stereotypes are fools.

People are going to tell jokes. Some are funny to some people: some aren't. That's as deep as this story is.

What we can't allow is Governments trying to limit what we can and can't say.

A tourism based city. Why wouldn’t you just set up a ‘trolley’ netwoek, specifically for tourists, like the ones in Honolulu?

Surely that’s better for everyone as opposed to racial profiling and endless arguements?

Not much they could do when someone hurls a device. BUT what did shock me was the device didn't immediately go off and they just let a crowd gather around a few meters away until it did go off...very lucky it was just a flash-bang and not serious explosive...why didn't they deisperse the crowd...why did everyone just mill around trying to 'see'.

That was the surprising and lax part of security.

It's an interesting topic.

However the at first 'odd' answers provided are probably more to do with incomplete and confusing information that Humans, with bodies, have flooded the internet (let's call it our global database) with.

A google search for Rocks to fan fires, turn up a host of images of barbecue rocks, volcanic rocks, and....yes...a primitive and perfectly successful method of making fire using only rocks, which when you really think about is a perfectly suitable response to the incomplete question provided.

I must agree with those saying 'it's a personal choice.'

Really, who cares if people wear masks? Live your own lives; stay out of other people's business.
