Or....

"The status of women as a free and dignified human being has been restored and all institutions have been obliged to help women in securing marriage, inheritance and other rights” 

The reality......

They have barred women from public spaces, like parks and gyms, and cracked down on media freedoms. The measures have triggered a fierce international uproar, increasing the country’s isolation at a time when its economy has collapsed — and worsening a humanitarian crisis.

Imagine eliminating half of a population from contributing to a society.

I think it should be called what it is - a war against women. They can’t work in healthcare, education, create businesses that enrich the lives of others. What a waste of human potential.

What happens if a woman needs medical treatment? Can a male doctor treat her? What about nurses?

Every Faith has it's own Beliefs, Rules, and life style and who are we to Criticize or Praise it. Islam is NO DIFFERENT than any other faith when imposing a certain life style or rules on it's followers. People have a choice either Leave, follow, or just never mind, and that's how it is in every system.

The Taliban are just following traditional Pashtun culture that has existed for hundreds of years.

If you believe all cultures are equal then you should not have any problem.

If, however, you believe that some cultures are backward, illogical and inferior say so....

You cannot have it both ways.

If it is so great, then male and female roles in can be switched and everyone will be happy, right? Men have to cover up, stay at home, not be educated, and women can run the companies and country. All the men will be happy about that, as they live 'comfortable and prosperous life' in Afghanistan.

Then why do all of your women look like they're trick or treating as ghosts on Halloween?

It is a gross violation of human rights. Even the statement of the Afghani government itself is demeaning. ."women are provided with a 'comfortable and prosperous life' in Afghanistan" this statement shows the women are being "provided" but are not allowed to live and provide for themselves. By shutting them from schools and putting them in prison like homes or in burqas when outside (that too only with a male assort) they can claim to have "given" the women what they need! It is just a mockery of 21st century ethics.

Who do the Taliban think they are fooling with such blatant lies? The women do not believe it. Educated people around the world do not believe it.

The Taliban culture is backwards, oppressive and inferior. The right to choose has been forcibly removed from women, as under their rule the women do not have the right to make choices about their own lives. The women are enslaved and forbidden from traveling without a male relative and without a male relatives permission. Even a male child/teen has authority over adult women in their family if they are the only male around.

People are equal but those who remove equal status from others by force are criminal as far as I am concerned and trying to hide such behavior behind religious rights or doctrine is both cowardly and wrong as far as I am concerned. I am not alone in such a belief.

The Taliban must be isolated, sanctioned and embargoed until they realise their religion is wrong in the modern world and unacceptable to the world. Learn it for historical reasons but do not try to apply medieval practices in today's world. Women circumcision, slavery, stoning to death, these things should all remain chapters of humanities past.

No support or help to the Taliban as long as they remain mired in living a lifrestyle from thousands of years ago they should be shunned by the world.

No excuses, this is simply unacceptable. It is not their right to remove the rights of women.

It matters not where you are or who's country it is, removing human rights by force or coercion from over half the population is wrong period. Giving protection to such actions is as criminal as those who perpetrate them.

Just man up and admit you do not believe in equality or in basic human rights for everyone. You better hope to never fall into the hands of someone who wants to remove YOUR personal rights. You might think differently about the subject then.

We need to speak out against tyrannical governments that oppose their citizens. The Taliban were never elected in open and fair elections.
