Posted in: Alcaraz returns to No. 1 in ATP rankings; Swiatek leads WTA See in context

Everybody worried what will happen when the big three retire, but the future of tennis looks good. The next big three are already on the stage (Alcaraz, Rune, maybe Sinner), and fighting high quality matches with the likes of Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Ruud, etc. And Djokovic is still active, of course. It will be an interesting Rolland Gaross

well, he is number one in the world, and one of the greatest in the history of the sport.

Obviously everybody wants a Djokovic-Alcaraz final, no 1 vs no 2, generation vs generation, youth vs experience, an unstoppable force hitting an unmovable object (aggressive style of Alcaraz vs defensive skills of Djokovic).

This is one thing I can't understand: if a girl comes to your place for drinks, juts be patient, talk smoothly, play some nice music and have some drinks, there is a great chance to get lucky. How does one ever think it may be a good idea to drug and rape her, with a good chance of ending in jail and throwing away your life and future??

Despite the late hour in Japan, I stayed and watched the Alcaraz match until the end. ADF put up a hell of a fight, and Alcaraz was a bit too aggressive at times, a bit less focused when leading, so he made many unforced errors, but it was an entertaining match. And the drop shot from ADF was just insane.

A pitty Sinner retired, we will not see another battle with Alcaraz. probably exhausted, saving energy and form for Rolland Garros.

Awesome, I play tennis from time to time wih a few guys in their eighties, they are amazing. They have tournaments for over 80, and even over 85! They told me: we never thought we would reach this age, and we try to enjoy every day left.

great post by Browny, made the whole story much clearer.

Hiking alone comes with risks, even for the experienced. Let’s hope she just got lost and they will find her soon

Posted in: How world sport got into a mess over trans athletes – and how it can get out of it See in context

Fair commentary. I know for sure that in my sport, tennis, the difference in level is huge, as proven by a few challenges, most recent and famous one of Williams' sisters.

But I've never understood why "sports" (I put quotation marks because not everybody considers them sports, because of less physical involvement) such as chess, pool, etc. have separate leagues for men and women?

I don't really watch the girls, but I am very sorry to hear about Bianca's injury, especially after working so hard to come back to form from the previous injury. And one of my favorite characters on the WTA tour is Pegula, the laidback, beer-gulping, chips-munching billionaire with a twisted sense of humor.

It seems quite sure now that Alcaraz is the next big star, hopefully he stays healthy and motivated. He has insane skills, great fighting spirit, and his game is very exciting to watch. Once he gains a bit more experience and mental maturity, he will be quite impossible to beat, reminiscent of the young prime time Federer.

Haven't you guys got bored yet posting covid stuff anytime there is a tennis news involving Djokovic'?? It gets really annoying.

For those who care about tennis, Rublev's match was insane. I watch the final of the second set and the third, Davidovich Fokina may need some therapy to put this loss behind him. Both of them are known to crack under pressure, but it seems that Rublev became a little tougher.

As much as I like Nadal and his fighting spirit, the truth is that time caught up with him. His intense playing style is not kind to the body, and the injuries kept on piling up. He probably wants a final run and one more grand slam (Rolland Gaross obviously), but I don't see it happening and I assume he will be forced to retire in 1-2 years (while hoping I am wrong).

Ping An, really? You know that the number 1 player in the world will turn 36 in a few months, should he retire too?

Dissing is easy, but after being told that he may never play tennis again, with all his earnings Murray could have just retired and leave a comfortable life, but instead he worked insanely hard and came back to the top of professional tennis. Something that most people respect, at least people who know how hard is to achieve something.

None of the day cares our children attended had this practice. They did inform us about how many time they changed the diaper and the aspect of their poop, but that was it. The article is about commuting by car, and I do agree with its conclusions. I used to commute by motorcycle for many years, and despite being Tokyo, the road was not very crowded at those hours. It was great, properly waking all my senses in the morning, and cooling me off in the evening on the way back. Rain did suck though.

I commuted by train only a few months, and I correctly assessed that doing that every day would seriously damage me psychologically. That is when I decided to buy a bike and get the license.

The nature of my job requires extensive reliance on staying connected, especially since I also have to travel a lot. The fact that my friends and family are spread over continents also makes staying connected important. But I do miss the old days of no internet and smartphones, probably it is just nostalgia, but it was less useful and more peaceful.
