Posted in: Decapitated head found at Sapporo home of arrested doctor, daughter See in context

Not sure why the hell the daughter kept the head for weeks. She could have easily buried it somewhere in the mountain or burn it. Why would anyone keep evidence of their crime around?

zactly - why keep it. other than changing clothes when leaving the hotel (which she probably only changed cos it would have been quite a mess), the whole family doesnt seem too smart in trying to cover their steps...dad/daughter buying a suitcase and knife weeks prior, their car tracked on cctv all the way home, loads of cooler boxes outside....doesnt really make much sense

so the wife was arrested too, was she also involved? according to some comments on yahoo, the hubby and wife were on the best of terms and he was often seen sleeping outside in the car

after 2 weeks, that head is going to start getting stinky unless its in a freezer. wonder if the parents knew, or they were just 'picking the daughter up' to take her home or something. this isnt ISIS - how many 29 yr old women know how to cleanly saw through a neck?

has this been updated? on the TV today, a guest on miyaneya was saying the joint didnt even use gas or have a gas supply agreement in place. some dude they had on suggested methane gas from an evaporated toilet trap, possibly from a tenant on a lower floor....the explosion wasnt a typical 'gas-filled room' type of explosion

Posted in: Woman arrested for failing to pay for 270-kilometer taxi ride in Iwate Prefecture See in context

In my opinion taxi driver is fraudulent!

victim blaming - he didnt force her to ask him to drive 270 km

A 270 km train ride would take much more than 2-3 hours

if you look at the map, the two towns are right along the shinkansen route, so can be done in that time.

12 hours to travel 270km, which is about 23Km/h.

must've been 下の道 and off the main roads, or stopping at combinis along the way to pee - can be done in 2 hours on the tohoku expressway, so the route must'be been 'avoid highways'

How old was the driver?

have you seen some of the taxi drivers here in Japan? 67 would be considered sprightly compared to some of the jiichans

this is a good sign - these two need to leave past behind and work together for tomorrow. indeed, forgive, but don't forget - make sure what happened is taught properly instead of skirting around the issue. but use the lessons learned to build a better future together

I don't doubt your claims that Japan could theoretically take over the islands, but I highly doubt that this is the case. maybe if russia implodes and splinters into smaller states first....

Pic looks like it was taken from a point above maybe the Morishita area looking south-south east down the Sumida river toward the Tsukuda tower mansions through to the Tsukishima and Kachidoki areas. The Ariaki/daiba area is not on there.

ahh yes. i see rainbow bridge in the background too (and shiba area to the right)

No,the tourists are not back at levels that they used to be.

of course not, but you can tell things are picking up almost anywhere you go. and of course, some things will be seasonal and not in full swing yet. i was in niseko mid december before the usual rush and lift lines were almost as long as they were pre-covid - i can imagine the place was packed around xmas and new year.

just a few people in Tokyo and MAYBE the Ski resorts and that's it.

was recently in nagasaki (did gunkanjima etc) and now in fukuoka, the place is brimming with tourists. mostly korean and some chinese/taiwan, so perhaps not as obvious as whitey tourists from australia/europe/US, but almost everything worth visiting/eating/seeing is packed with lines.

Posted in: Chinese woman's 'purchase' of uninhabited Okinawa island causes stir See in context

purchasing the land isnt an issue, unless there are laws against foreign purchasers under certain conditions like in australia and other countries.

the claims she 'purchased' it are in doubt - if she really did, then why not show the title or deeds? if she can't, then it can be called BS.

the other issue is the CCP thus claiming the island as chinese territory, which is obviously a national security concern. of course, no one will accept any such claim, as the island is in japan and subject to japanese laws etc it is ludicrous that the ccp would even come up with such a claim, but the CCP is indeed known for some absurd claims that should be dismissed immediately
