Trump was articulate and accurate.

Electing this clown again will mean real surrender and decline for America.

33 ( +52 / -19 )

People who think he isn't going to get the next presidency have their head in the sand. This guy's behaviour does nothing but increase his 'standing' amongst 50% and some change of the US voters, and that 'some change' is all it takes. Putting the same guy up against him that is so easy to throw insults at is some smooth brained action on the Dems side, they are literally gifting this to him.

-28 ( +12 / -40 )

Nice….now Biden can deflect any questions about his shortcomings and problems with a “Just look at Mr. Convicted and Indicted over there. How many ‘witch hunts’ you want to whine about today?”.

Moderate Republicans and independents aren’t going to vote for Trump this time. They’ve had enough of the circus.

32 ( +38 / -6 )

Trump dismantled the commentator so effortlessly. His popularity just grows and grows.

-31 ( +18 / -49 )

Trump was articulate and accurate.

Very difficult to associate either of these things with Trump.

36 ( +47 / -11 )

His popularity just grows and grows.

lol No it doesn't.

All this shows is that he's an impetuous child, incapable of any growth.

The man is so lacking in self-control that he the very next day after he loses his libel case, he's back to insulting the same woman again.

32 ( +42 / -10 )

and repeatedly insulted a woman in response to a civil jury's finding this week

What's going to happen to Trump (in the next lawsuit) regarding this? I'm NOT talking about from among his Trump crowd...rather I'm talking about a jury. Trump people LOVE this, but what will the (next) jury in the (next) lawsuit against Trump say?

8 ( +11 / -3 )

It’s obvious that his “supporters” come here from a site where they share places they can swarm.

6 ( +13 / -7 )

Cards fan--according to the polls his popularity is growing. lol

-19 ( +5 / -24 )

There are too many more dishes on his buffet table of legal woes. I predict he won’t be the nominee in 2024.

Why can’t the country have a normal president and vice president?

14 ( +19 / -5 )

with no more Fake News,

Rupert's 'Truth or Fox' network has ben clearly shown to most reasonable people to be one of the biggest fake news outlets, joining Putin and Prizoghin's social media warriors, including the 99% of his keyboard lackeys Putin brags that have not yet been uncovered.Along with Xi's 50 cent army. Russia and China are winning the Internet, thanks to so many people around the world, in North America, especially in the US South, unable to reason clearly.

7 ( +13 / -6 )

At first, I was against CNN giving a compulsive liar a platform. But in retrospect....

They gave him a nice stage and a compliant audience that enabled his worst tendencies. Then CNN gave him a rope in the form of honest questions demanding honest answers.

And then Trump used that rope to legally and politically hang himself on live TV.

He lied from his opening sentence and never stopped.

He engaged in whack-job conspiracy theories.

He gave Jack Smith more statements to consider.

He gave Carole reason to sue him all over again.

He lied, lied, lied and then he lied some more.

He discredited the American Justice System.

He snuggled up to his favorite cuddle buddy Putin.

He called the moderator a nasty individual for demanding a simple answer to to a simple question.

And the vast majority of the country that was not already in his cult of personality looked on and said "oh HELL NO!"

The GOP sources for the network were bordering on appoplectic in their response.

There was nothing good about this for Trump regardless of what his rubes insist.

It was a freak show from beginning to end.

25 ( +32 / -7 )

Just finished watching it.

he crushed it, great job in replying to all the questions openly and honestly.

host kept trying to talk over him but Trump owned the audience.

-31 ( +9 / -40 )

Unhinged. That's the word that comes to mind.

If facts aren't good enough, don't run for office.

16 ( +21 / -5 )

He snuggled up to his favorite cuddle buddy Putin.

you watched it? no, right?

because Putin wasn’t mentioned, was he?

-20 ( +10 / -30 )

The jury was asked to reach a decision on the basis of the “preponderance of evidence”. So rather than 'beyond reasonable doubt (which the judge specifically told them to forget) the jury only had to consider that the claims were more likely to be true than false. No bias required there...

The jury were played the Access Hollywood "Grab her by the ..." tape, which had nothing to do with the case. Such...uhh..."evidence" would not be allowed in any other trial.

I would think this 'he said/she said' case will earn him more supporters.

-18 ( +4 / -22 )

To borrow someone's phrase, "what an utter and complete disaster"...

The more Trump shows the American public that he's a sick, ignorant, degenerate, the more the 75% of the non-MAGA cult will look at him as the toxic Loser he is...

Trump could plant a big kiss on Putin, say he's for repealing the 2nd Amendment, and pick Hunter as his running mate, and the MAGA-cultists would all still worship him...

He even tells them to take the hated COVID vaccine they all think is poison - and they still grovel at his feet...

MAGA-world is nothing but a radical, extremist cult...

19 ( +25 / -6 )

he crushed it, great job in replying to all the questions openly and honestly.

The ONLY thing he crushed was himself.

He lied from the very first sentence.

Collins demanded answer and not deflections. In return he called her "a nasty individual".

The audience represented the worst aspects of America. They laughed at a sexual assault conviction.

The TV audience is going to look at this and say "NOPE!"

Lied. Low-energy. No answers. Lied somemore. Engaged in wild conspiracy. Talked about pardoning convicted felons.

The fact that you think it was wonderful just makes it more clear what a feces-fest it really was.

17 ( +22 / -5 )

you watched it? no, right?

Yes, I did. And Ukraine was clearly mentioned. Trump basically said that he would "end the war in 24 hours" by selling Ukraine down the road to his handler lord Putin.

15 ( +20 / -5 )

as he attacked her in deeply personal terms. "She’s a wack job,” he said, drawing laughs from the crowd.

She is a whack job, that’s not “deeply personal terms” to say. he doesn’t even know her and the audience response tells you all you need to know. Laughter.

-27 ( +6 / -33 )

by selling Ukraine down the road to his handler lord Putin.

He said that?

-22 ( +7 / -29 )

Unhinged. That's the word that comes to mind.

Other words include "Delusional", "Addled", "Insane" "Criminally Liable (admittedly two words)", "Pathetic", "Morose" and "Low-energy" (again, two words)

Think I will go with "insane".

There was nothing tonight that would have convinced anyone who did not vote for him in 2020 - a majority of 7 million voters - to vote for him in 24.

In fact, I bet that there were a fair few "hold my nose" GOP voters and Independents within visual range of a fence (forget about being actually on it) who took a look at this and said "NOPE, not voting for that nut-job."

16 ( +19 / -3 )

And this man could well be the next president of the USA, and coming to Japan to meet the prime minister and his cabinet. Now that is something to really look forward to.

-3 ( +5 / -8 )

Well, there we have the good old Trump..

Rude, misogynist, arrogant, lier, bad manners, belligerent, narcissistic, fanciful, cynical, etc.

And his horde of worshipers do not stop admiring him, they love him because the way he is..

Trump was articulate and accurate.

Trump dismantled the commentator so effortlessly. His popularity just grows and grows.

Cards fan--according to the polls his popularity is growing. lol

There you have....

(facepalm)..

10 ( +16 / -6 )

he doesn’t even know her

He was shown a picture of her. To be fair, he did think she was his 2nd wife (who WAS his type) so he most certainly did know her.

audience response tells you all you need to know. Laughter.

A jury of his peers reacted rather differently, unanomously and in less than 3 hours.

Gee, an auditorium of GQP and GQP leaning voters laughing at him denigrating a woman he was convicted of sexually assaulting. THAT is a great look. I am sure that played well on TV with the 1 out of 3 women who have experienced something similar and those that love them.

Like I said, his cult will lap it up. The 70% of America that is not, not so much.

8 ( +11 / -3 )

https://edition.cnn.com/videos/politics/2023/05/10/ukraine-russia-war-us-military-aid-donald-trump-town-hall-vpx.cnn

im curious what is the time stamp where he said anything about his actual solution for ending the war much less that it would involve selling out Ukraine to his “handler lord Putin”?

-16 ( +4 / -20 )

Glad I didn’t watch.

sounds like he just went out of his way to reconfirm everything I loathe about him. Good, let him show what he really is. And let the commentary from his supporters here illustrate what type of people he will empower if elected again.

9 ( +11 / -2 )

a majority of 7 million voters - to vote for him in 24.

your problem is that with a 36 percent approval rate (and absent any cheating) you can’t expect Biden to get 81 million votes again.

barely 1/3 even say he is mentally or physically capable much now, much less for 6 more years.

Trump got 12 million more votes in 2020 than 2016 and will get at least 74 million next time.

and Biden approval among African Americans has dropped 30 points because he has doing next to nothing for the community. So he will be hemorrhaging votes there.

-12 ( +7 / -19 )

Trump has never been informed or eloquent and he’s clearly on the decline from a very low standard to begin with.

9 ( +14 / -5 )

She is a whack job,

She's a whack job that Trump sexually abused.

he doesn’t even know her and the audience response tells you all you need to know.

That's not true.

8 ( +14 / -6 )

Watched some of it. Trump BS and lies. They prepared questions beforehand but as usual, Trump went off script.

9 ( +14 / -5 )

Trump provided enough video clips for the remainder of the cycle that oppo-research teams, both Democratic and GQP, can probably just take the rest of the election cycle off.

From advocating default, to pardoning convicted felons, to demeaning a woman he was convicted of sexually assaulting, to election lies, to demeaning his interviewer because she made him answer questions, to ..... There is just too much to relate.

Trump is the gift that keeps on giving to his opponents. One wonders when another non-insane member of the GQP (Sununu, Essa, Christy, etc.) are going to cash in these gifts and hang Trump with his own words.

We know it sure won't be bobble-head Ronnie, the Winger of political "Rock Stars." He only yells at women and children.

7 ( +10 / -3 )

Trump got 12 million more votes in 2020 than 2016 and will get at least 74 million next time.

You're dreaming if you think somehow Biden can't 82 million votes again, but Trump will somehow magically get 74 million votes. After being proven in court to be a sexual abuser. Pathetic.

8 ( +12 / -4 )

Trump is not yet the GOP nomination.

7 ( +12 / -5 )

Trump was articulate and accurate.

I agree.

-18 ( +7 / -25 )

To be fair, he did think she was his 2nd wife (who WAS his type) so he most certainly did know her.

yeah the pic was a full decade before the supposed incident.

you don’t “know” everyone that someone else takes a pic of you with. Especially so long ago that it’s a black and white photo.

-15 ( +6 / -21 )

That's not true.

So her claims are so believable and she is so righteous that a CNN audience…..laughed at her?

he said he knows her husband but not her.

-15 ( +6 / -21 )

Trump got 12 million more votes in 2020 than 2016 and will get at least 74 million next time.

Along with Trump, you think the 2020 election was illegitimate. I think you believe 2016 was fraudulent too.

Why are you trusting these numbers?

You can’t trust numbers coming out of a fraudulent election.

8 ( +13 / -5 )

So her claims are so believable and she is so righteous that a CNN audience…..laughed at her?

No. Her claims are so believable that Donald owes her $5 million in damages.

he said he knows her husband but not her.

Donald lies a lot. He also claimed he won the election we all know he lost.

9 ( +16 / -7 )

The WAPO poll. As Mark Twain once said "There are lies, damn lies, and statistics."

It was an outlier which has already been countered by a different poll with a tighter margin of error. So there is that.

And polls aside, if this is a question of Biden vs. Trump, as I believe it will be, there is no universe in which Trump wins back any of the 7 million who voted against him.

ESPECIALLY after 1/6.

ESPECIALLY after he obtrsucted the election (indictments to come)

ESPECIALLY after he obstructed indeed actively hid IN HIS DESK classified documents (indictments to come)

ESPECIALLY after a jury of his peers found unanamously that he sexually assaulted and then defamed a woman that he definitely knows.

And then there is a woman's right to choose, gun violence. his on his sleeve racisim, climate change denialism, attempts to villianize gays.

On none of these issues is he popular with either the general electorate and especially with the younger urban voters that are moving into their political lives.

So hang on to that one poll. I hope its magical qualities keep you warm and safe in your bubble. Because the facts, reality and the trends of post 1/6 America do not support any universe in which Trump wins an election.

My actual fear is that he goes to prison too early and that the GQP has time to replace him with a serious candidate - Chris Sununu for example.

6 ( +10 / -4 )

Many assume Trump will be the GOP candidate. If he were to win in 2014 he can only serve a single term. The GOP might decide a two-term nomination like Desantis would be better.

6 ( +11 / -5 )

AOC super mad so it just have gone badly for Dems:

“CNN should be ashamed of themselves,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “They have lost total control of this ‘town hall’ to again be manipulated into platforming election disinformation, defenses of Jan 6th, and a public attack on a sexual abuse victim. The audience is cheering him on and laughing at the host.”

-15 ( +6 / -21 )

The shyster declared bankruptcy 7 times - everything about the guy is on display for folks to see his understanding of accountability - why don't folks see it?

8 ( +12 / -4 )

While we're on the topic of polls.

Biden still leads Trump by 2%. That's going to widen after Donald lost his case.

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/3998208-biden-tops-trump-by-2-points-in-new-poll-leads-desantis-by-3-points/

3 ( +9 / -6 )

It was an outlier which has already been countered by a different poll with a tighter margin of error. So there is that.

Since April 1, Trump won 6 of the last 11 polls with one tie.

the most 2 recent ones that Joe won, he won only by 2 points each.

And those have 12 and 16% of people missing- it doesn’t add up to 100%. Joe won 43 to 41, where is the rest?

-9 ( +6 / -15 )

“Well, you might as well do it now because you’ll do it later because we have to save this country," he said.

Trump is well aware that his only path to victory in the upcoming presidential election is through accelerationism and the controlled demolition of democratic institutions.

That has pretty much always been his raison d'etre for his corporate and evangelical backers.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

Biden still leads Trump by 2%. That's going to widen after Donald lost his case.

And even more after Trump is indicted or election interference, obstruction of justice and a host of other criminal offenses.

3 ( +8 / -5 )

Trump has claimed that he is clairvoyant, so if he is and wasn't just once again telling big lies, then he probably is aware he needs to hit up his base again for more money to pay the woman he assaulated off. Why does someone who claimed he was so rich, and avoids paying taxes to stay well off, have to beg like a televangelist for more money. Will the usual establishment members like Harlan Crowe, Koch and the Mercers along with petrochemical barons and authoritarians around the globe, pour more money on the dumpster fire that is Trump and the Republican Party.so they can stay in power along with him.

7 ( +11 / -4 )

Still believes he won the election even though state and federal election officials, his own campaign and White House aides, and numerous courts have said there is no evidence to support his claims. A deluded liar.

Would pardon the Jan 6 thugs. Clearly doesn't believe in law and order.

Believes Pence was the one that did something wrong.

Claims that CNN is 'fake news' then appears on CNN. Oh the irony....

That Trump supporters believe the same things, kind of tells you all you need to know about them. Liars themselves who don't believe in law and order nor the US constitution.

9 ( +14 / -5 )

bass4funk

   Trump was articulate and accurate.

> I agree.

Except he was not. He went off script rambling and lying.

6 ( +12 / -6 )

there is no universe in which Trump wins back any of the 7 million who voted against him.

Oh so just “wait” to see his poll numbers go down? Hasn’t happened “yet”?

That is what you said after Jan 6 and the raid and the indictment and the and the….

ok let’s check his numbers next week. the CNN audience laughed at her and the host too. No one taking that verdict or that host seriously.

“he talked over her!” No, she talked over HIM. It wasn’t the Kaitlin Collins Town Hall now was it? He insulted her! She deserved it by her actions and the audience laughed at her.

I see numbers going up again, let’s talk next week.

-9 ( +5 / -14 )

*AOC the voice of rationality in repaonse to the ***show town hall of CNN tacking right in a ratings grab by giving a forum of Trumpiian bloviation.

Fixed it for you.

AOC would wreck Trump in a debate with factsand no patience for Trump's **

5 ( +10 / -5 )

Donald Trump can go on a town hall of supporting voters and get cheers and laughter.

Here is a list of other things he can do:

Convict himself with his own words.

Launch an insurrection.

Lie and defame

Pay damages for above.

Spend all eternity in the second lowest circle of Hell (the lowest level is for Mao, Hitler and Stalin and they don't tolerate losers, so he will have to dine at the little fascist's table with Benito and Saddam.)

Spend some time before his final stop"

5 ( +10 / -5 )

The important voting sector is the independents and who will they vote for in 2024. Will they vote for Trump in 2024? Many women were upset after the court case.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

In federal prison.

(Apologies, the kindle posted for me)

3 ( +8 / -5 )

Wandora

The jury were played the Access Hollywood "Grab her by the ..." tape, which had nothing to do with the case.

It had everything to do with the case. And to be fair, you can't deny that he said those things.

Such...uhh..."evidence" would not be allowed in any other trial.

Yes, it would.

I would think this 'he said/she said' case will earn him more supporters.

Doubt it. Trump's finished.

5 ( +10 / -5 )

That is what you said after Jan 6 and the raid and the indictment and the and the….

And did Trump come back? Well? Trump has never one the popular vote. That's a fact. You think he's going to be more popular now that he's been proven a sexual abuser and now that he's been indicted? lol okay.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

Geez - what a boor.

I actually thought - ha, ha - that he'd use this opportunity to not change his spots, but to try to pick up some of the non-committed voters - the votes he will need come election time.

Like it's not everyday he's going to get the chance to appeal more broadly esp on CNN, as in moderate his tone and give some thoughtful answers to back up his opinions. He can have his opinions - but backed with a little research to balance crafted replies that creates a sense of well - yes that's an interesting point.

Instead it was just a quack, quack, quack fest tailored to his devotees.

Lie, Scoff, Insult, Lie Scoff, Insult repeat ad nauseum.

So Sad.

Ans sadder still are those who are enamored by his guffaw guffaw boorishness.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

Still believes he won the election even though state and federal election officials, his own campaign and White House aides, and numerous courts have said there is no evidence to support his claims. A deluded liar

I don’t believe he believes what he’s shoveling.

Preying on idiots he fleeces for cash.

Isn’t the first, won’t be the last.

4 ( +9 / -5 )

Here is a list of things Trump is incapable of doing:

Telling the truth under oath

Expressing empathy

Keeping his hands to himself

Following legal or political advice.

Winning a popular vote or an electoral college majority

Ever being in the White House again in ANY role or circumstance.

5 ( +9 / -4 )

That was the worst so called 'moderating' i ever saw from a 'moderator'. She was debating, arguing and talking over Trump so much she might as well run for president herself, yikes

-7 ( +5 / -12 )

Trump has never one the popular vote. That's a fact.

Doesn’t need to. He lost by 44,000 votes in 3 swing states.

your + 7 million shrinks to next to nothing without NY and CA. Electoral college is all or nothing that’s how we do our elections. So lose California by 1 or lose by 10 million, it’s irrelevant.

-11 ( +5 / -16 )

This is the guy that was found guilty of sexual assault yesterday, right? CNN has been bad for some time now but giving this man a platform to continue to lie at this time is taking bad to another level entirely.

It's looking rather bleak for America in the short and medium term.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

or an electoral college majority

then how was he president for 4 years?

-8 ( +6 / -14 )

Doesn’t need to. He lost by 44,000 votes in 3 swing states.

Hanging your hat on anomaly there. lol Love the argument here. Technically, he doesn't have to win. He can just sneak by. lol

3 ( +8 / -5 )

The WAPO poll. As Mark Twain once said "There are lies, damn lies, and statistics."

So liberals believe in what and which part, their stats or the other?

And polls aside, if this is a question of Biden vs. Trump, as I believe it will be, there is no universe in which Trump wins back any of the 7 million who voted against him.

Not so sure about that one, especially now with what we know thanks to Musk, Taibbi, Schollenberger and the House hearings from former Twitter execs, before you even try, doesn't matter, we don't believe the left on this anymore, especially with all the info, DM, emails and documents that we have.

(indictments to come)

They will try.....(again) for what though, anyone's guess....

ESPECIALLY after he obstructed indeed actively hid IN HIS DESK classified documents (indictments to come)

Then Biden needs to worry as well, Pence too for that matter.

ESPECIALLY after a jury of his peers found unanamously that he sexually assaulted and then defamed a woman that he definitely knows.

Allegedly. Again, this was a civil, not a criminal case, big difference like owning a home and renting one.

And then there is a woman's right to choose, gun violence. his on his sleeve racisim, climate change denialism, attempts to villianize gays.

Well, you have the 2nd amendment, racism, starving Americans, homelessness, devaluing of the dollar, mobs attacking people, defunding of the police, wokism, and people thinking that biological men are equal ti biological-born women

On none of these issues is he popular with either the general electorate and especially with the younger urban voters that are moving into their political lives.

Depends, maybe not in Blue States, but definitely in Red States.

So hang on to that one poll.

Not just one, multiple polls

I hope its magical qualities keep you warm and safe in your bubble. Because the facts, reality and the trends of post 1/6 America do not support any universe in which Trump wins an election.

I would disagree with that statement

My actual fear is that he goes to prison

He will not go to prison

Chris Sununu for example.

Sununu will never, ever be President of the US.

-11 ( +7 / -18 )

His base loves the town hall, as do the people seated there, laughing off a rape.

But it was all lies. He kept up his narrative and while it appeases the lie loving supporters, there isn't a moderate Republican nor any voter who keeps hearing these lies believing him.

It's amusing how foolish his supporters are to think this wasn't detrimental. He didn't help himself in the long run, he confirmed he's a liar and reminds all why he is such a target for those who will ultimately and sensibly put him down, and I'm talking conservative non support.

CNN may be getting heat for putting him on, but lies are lies, and he never quit lying.

Trump will gain immediate gains within a week or so, but thereafter? The initial pump from being on national television saying whatever lie he wanted affects the weak minded to cheer, but within a month?

The lies scrutinized, the insults no longer cute and laughable, and the truth again overcomes his disinformation.

5 ( +11 / -6 )

Technically, he doesn't have to win.

No literally he doesn’t have to win the popular vote.

not how we count in our country. Maybe educate yourself on how our country works compared to yours?

-7 ( +6 / -13 )

No literally he doesn’t have to win the popular vote.

Yeah, we know. That's how he won in 16. He has never won a popular vote. Maybe that's why he is so universally unpopular?

But that's not happening again. Everyone but the cultiest of his rubes are done with him.

2 ( +7 / -5 )

post town hall panel-

CNN: Don’t you wish he would quit talking about 2020?

Voter: Uhh the first question you asked him was about 2020

They think you’re stupid.

-10 ( +6 / -16 )

“In fact, Trump said, Pence was the one who “did something wrong.”

It takes a ‘special’ kind of mind to support this ‘logic’. Thankfully, as before, those kind of thinkers are a minority and dwindling to hateful little nubs by the day.

3 ( +9 / -6 )

laughing off a rape.

There was no rape, that was rejected.

-9 ( +6 / -15 )

Trumps being his usual clownish self, and having a ball doing it, but I simply can’t get my head around Biden thinking he can run again, never mind defeat anyone. It’s as plain as day he is not all there. Doesn’t seem to know where he even is half the time. The memes, which were funny for a while, have become just sad.

How could the democrats even think that him running again is even a viable option? I hazard a guess most don’t. Or have you guys really bought into that “collective” mindset ideal, where you think you don’t even need a capable and articulate leader at the helm, and that the group itself is enough?? Yikes. That’s another possibility. Surely someone with some sense should’ve stepped in. Unfortunately Kamala is another cringeworthy, walking disaster too so the options aren’t great are they? Now, the boogeyman Trump has an actual shot and stepping back into the spotlight and even, dare I say it winning! When life imitates art.

Also, why no mention of Desantis, a very real contender? Seems very calculated and deliberate.

Trump, who is the undisputed frontrunner for the Republican nomination

Maybe journalists should stop treating people like mugs. Most see the world a lot clearer than they may like to think.

Kaarn America! Lift your game.

Thanks,

Australia ( one Aussie actually , but while we are speaking collectives! )

1 ( +6 / -5 )

He has never won a popular vote. Maybe that's why he is so universally unpopular?

He is beating Joe. he doesn’t have to win popular vote and only needs to be more popular than 1 person: Joe Biden.

who is so unpopular that he has the lowest approval rate at this point in a term of any President- ever in history.

-6 ( +6 / -12 )

His base loves the town hall, as do the people seated there, laughing off a rape.

They did that with Clinton as well in 1992 and there wasn't even a trial. Juanita Broderick never took her accuser to court because she was threatened not to.

But it was all lies. He kept up his narrative and while it appeases the lie loving supporters, there isn't a moderate Republican nor any voter who keeps hearing these lies believing him.

If you think they are lies, then that is what you think, there are people that think the opposite and there are plenty of conservatives that will never vote for an establishment RINO GOP.

It's amusing how foolish his supporters are to think this wasn't detrimental.

Why?

He didn't help himself in the long run, he confirmed he's a liar and reminds all why he is such a target for those who will ultimately and sensibly put him down, and I'm talking conservative non support.

I think the current admin has a deep problem telling the truth, a very deep problem, but thankfully people are now realizing that. A lot of conservatives see it and it definitely helps Trump.

CNN may be getting heat for putting him on, but lies are lies, and he never quit lying.

That is the reason why CNN fired so many people, can't even keep track over the years.

Trump will gain immediate gains within a week or so, but thereafter?

More as we are seeing the needle moving up.

The lies scrutinized, the insults no longer cute and laughable, and the truth again overcomes his disinformation.

Well, the left should have thought of that earlier, but they didn't and their roosters are coming home to roost.

-7 ( +6 / -13 )

Go watch Rick Wilson “Lincoln project”, a notorious Trump hater on Twitter.

he is so mad at CNN and claims that Trump just won the nomination thanks to them.

rolling stone super mad too.

cry harder.

And let the commentary from his supporters here illustrate what type of people he will empower if elected again.

like this

AOC super mad so it just have gone badly for Dems:

“CNN should be ashamed of themselves,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “They have lost total control of this ‘town hall’ to again be manipulated into platforming election disinformation, defenses of Jan 6th, and a public attack on a sexual abuse victim. The audience is cheering him on and laughing at the host.”

mr brand ambassador-label, you should be aware that you represent your cause.

and you’re really bad at it.

laughing off a rape.

There was no rape, that was rejected.

He was there, it happened. He was found unanimously by a jury of his peers guilty in less than 3 hours. He gets to pay $5 million for his actions.

This is legally an accepted fact.

It's a distinction without a difference.

2 ( +8 / -6 )

He is beating Joe. he doesn’t have to win popular vote and only needs to be more popular than 1 person: Joe Biden.

There is no universe in which he wins back either the voters who abandoned him in 2020 or new younger voters.

He is an unlikeable, lying, xenophobic, racist, mysoginist buffoon and the non-cult portion of the electorate sees him as such.

Oh, and he is going to prison as well. So there is that too.

He was there, it happened.

Allegedly, you don't know if she was raped or not, no one does.

He was found unanimously by a jury of his peers guilty in less than 3 hours.

Yes, in a city that hates him, he got less than 20% of the vote, so who is surprised? I know I'm not.

He gets to pay $5 million for his actions.

Ok

This is legally an accepted fact.

In a civil case, not a criminal.

It's a distinction without a difference.

There are huge differences between the two.

I disagree

He is an unlikeable, lying, xenophobic, racist, mysoginist buffoon and the non-cult portion of the electorate sees him as such.

Some may think that half of the country doesn't. Ever listen to what the Dems say about their own leader?

Oh, and he is going to prison as well.

No, he won't

By simply quoting what AOC said?

you we’re mocking AOC when she was complaining about the public shaming of a sexual abuse victim. You’re free to plead innocent intent but you aren’t exactly an unknown commodity here. You’ve a long, distinguished record to stand on.

4 ( +8 / -4 )

There was no rape, that was rejected.

It was rejected by the jury, but not by Carroll.

She's adamant he raped her. Very much, like the metoo movement on Weinstein, he said he didn't do it, when the women were adamant it happened. I believe Carroll over a ubiquitous liar like Trump.

1 ( +7 / -6 )

her own words mock her and the entire audience laughed too due to the absurdity of the story as told.

and her and many others being upset at CNN shows that Trump delivered a Dems took a hard loss to Dems tonight.

No, she embarrassed herself on multiple occasions.

There's tons of stuff like this of nutty outrageous things that she said, again, I am glad when Santos is gone, I agree with all the criticism, but to make it like AOC supporters are just intellectually savvier than Santos is on its face laughable, both sides (the voters) got played by these con artists.

You’ve a long, distinguished record to stand on.

Ditto

-4 ( +7 / -11 )

I believe Carroll over a ubiquitous liar like Trump.

I personally believe Trump, I just don't see it happening.

-7 ( +7 / -14 )

They think you’re stupid.

The average Trump voter is!

1

In a civil case, not a criminal.

2

Not of rape.

be honest for once?

At the time when Carroll alleges Trump raped her, the statute of limitations for rape in the state of New York was five years.

Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, a former district attorney, said during a town hall event in New Hampshire on Wednesday that he believes "the woman was a victim." He further told CBS News' Robert Costa on Wednesday that he believes Trump "has not treated women with the highest regard," which he said "should be part of how we judge a future president."

2 ( +6 / -4 )

The jury was so on the fence that he was there and that he sexually assaulted her, that it took them all of 3 hours to award her $5 million.

And hanging your hat on the "rape" part gives away the game. To be guilty of sexual battery (the actual charge) the Jury had to find that using bodily force and against her consent or will, he penetrated her vagina (as she testified). The jury agreed that this happened.

What they could not determine was if it was digitally only or with his penis. We know from her testimony that he attempted to. Her testimony is that he did and eventually she was able to fight him off.

So, long story short, it is now a legally accepted fact that he was there, he assaulted her sexually. He would have completed the rape if he had had the chance.

As any sentient being can tell, it is indeed a distinction without a difference. Both for her and for his wallet.

And the more his rubes make excuses for him, the more that any woman who has ever experienced this as well thinks "oh, THAT kind of person. Nope"

CNN should know better

-2 ( +3 / -5 )

During a contentious CNN town hall Wednesday night, former President Donald Trump dug in on his lies about the 2020 election, downplayed the violence on Jan 6, 2021, and repeatedly insulted the woman whom a civil jury this week found him liable of sexually abusing and defaming.

Trump, returning to the network after years of acrimony, also refused to say whether he wants Ukraine to win the war against Russian aggression and said the U.S. “might as well” default on its debt obligation, despite the potential devastating economic consequences.

The live, televised event — held in early-voting New Hampshire — underscored the challenges of fact-checking Trump in real time. The former president was cheered on and applauded by an audience of Republican and unaffiliated voters as moderator Kaitlan Collins sometimes struggled to get a word in edgewise. Trump — who at one point snapped that Collins was “a nasty person” — continued to insist the 2020 election had been “rigged,” even though state and federal election officials, his own campaign and White House aides, and numerous courts have said there is no evidence to support his claims.

Unbelievable.

Keep trash talking Trump while the country implodes from inept / corrupt “Leadership”.

There is no universe in which he wins back either the voters who abandoned him in 2020 or new younger voters.

Well, there is one universe - the 'Delusion" universe, also known as MAGA-world... You have to suspend reality to enter...

He is an unlikeable, lying, xenophobic, racist, mysoginist buffoon and the non-cult portion of the electorate sees him as such.

Indeed they do...and I would just add he is "Putin's Poodle"...

Oh, and he is going to prison as well. So there is that too.

With the recorded conversation to Raffensperger on "finding" votes, the written deposition from his lawyer that "there is no more classified at Mar-A-Lago" (there was), a Mar-A-Lago insider now cooperating with the Special Prosecutor on his obstructing justice, and the 8 fake Georgia electors all coping an immunity deal for testimony against him means Trump should buy his orange jumpsuit now...

He'll be in his BFF Manafort's or Weissleberg's old cell by 2024...

On record pace for legislation and federal judges. Gas prices are down. Employment and wages are up. Inflation is flattening out and America is leading democracies.

Don't know what planet you are living on.

But I will gladly continue to trash Trump for the things that he absolutely positively has done.

Thank you for the permission.

Trump has also been charged criminally for fraud. 34 felony counts of business fraud by the Manhattan district attorney's office.

Bragg never outlined and told him the charges? Bragg, with each passing day, is making himself look more ridiculous and like a political hack and a Soros stooge than a serious prosecutor.

The man suffers from some serious psychological problems.

You think? His hair looks a bit frizzy and the front has that low-energy droop to it. It kind of matches his neck waddle.

And was it just me or was the angle on his deposition a pathetic attempt to hide a bald spot on the back of his head that no amount of comb-over or shellac could conceal?

im curious what is the time stamp where he said anything about his actual solution for ending the war much less that it would involve selling out Ukraine to his “handler lord Putin”?

Trump said he would end the war in 24 hours. The only solution Putin will take in the next 24 hours is complete surrender. Simple as.

Chris Christy seems to have reached the same conclusion.

It seems that drawing conclusions from evidence and nuance are beyond some of their lot.

While Trump's tone and divisive statements often thrill Republican primary crowds, he has so far done little to expand his appeal among the moderates and independents who soured on him in 2020 and will be crucial to winning the general election.

Instead, he lashed out at the Black police officer who shot and killed rioter Ashli Babbitt, calling him a “thug," despite a Justice Department finding that the shooting was justified. And he said he is inclined to pardon “a large portion” of the rioters charged in the attack.

He would not commit to accepting the results of the next election, either, saying he would do so only if he feels “it’s an honest election” — as he said before the 2020 election.

I’m sure he won a lot of converts on CNN…

AOC for Democrat presidential nominee 2024. Everything the right fears and watch them explode.

Her SNS game is way beyond Trump, she would make him a slobbering Boomer in the debate, he could only win by physically assaulting her, oh wait, and it would show the Dems can play the accelerationism game as well as the right.

One major criticism of CNN.

it never dawned on CNN that the audience that would want to attend a Trump Town Hall would be raucous Trump supporters? Seriously?

5 ( +10 / -5 )

Trump probably paid for the audience to attend.
