If that mental evaluation fails, than the question should be addressed to SDF, how can that recruit can pass SDF test in the first place?

Is it because SDF try to get people despite less candidate?

I was thinking the same thing. Do they not do a mental evaluation before they are accepted into the GSDF? OR are they so desperate these days, they will accept anybody?

Color me pink but I thought every recruit goes in for a psychology evaluation before they are recruited. Am I wrong?

They just changed enlistment age restriction from 26 to 32, beside that they change no-tattoo policy.

For other countries is nothing but for Japan, to give up tattoo restriction is critical step that they really accepting the fact that they really have shortage.

Those kind of information that recently open to public, beside those, what kind of psychological profile that recruiter willing to compromise in order to reach recruitment number, this kind of information is not visible from public eyes.

How'd he pass the entrance psych test?

Why isn't the "recruit" named? He's an adult and a government employee so there should be no privacy related reasons why he isn't identified by name.

Because mental evaluations aren't perfect predictors of future activity. Also, to some extent with soldiers you kind of want people that are mentally closer to pulling the trigger. Of course you don't want them to cross that line autonomously, but you also don't need pacifists who won't pull the trigger, so you are left with playing Blackjack with your choices.

Well, bloody good for the police on this one. They upgraded him from attempted murder to murder after confirming the men he shot were actually dead. Brilliant police work. Searching his house was a good idea, too. It will give them some insight as to why this brace patriot cracked like a fragile quail egg in a noisy indoor shooting range. Poor fellow ruined his life, his family's lives and the instructors' families' lives.

How do you spell bullying?

While the suspect is believed to have targeted Kikumatsu, he has neither mentioned any bitterness toward the senior instructor nor any dissatisfaction with the GSDF, the sources said.

In other words, no personal motives. And as usual, they are not even going to consider the possibility that someone else had motives, and he was acting on their behalf?

No matter what is the result of the mental evaluation the SDF is going to get a lot of flak for the incident, either they are now recruiting unstable people that are obviously unfit to hold a weapon or they are recruiting criminals that can kill others in cold blood fully understanding the meaning of their actions.
