U.S. police probe Cardi B mic throw

Days after a video showed rapper Cardi B hurling a microphone at a member of her audience, police said Monday they had begun a battery investigation.

In footage that has ricocheted around social media, the "WAP" star can be seen retaliating after a concert-goer threw a drink at her during a Las Vegas show.

Clips posted to social media show the "Money" singer recoiling after someone close to the stage splashed the contents of a cup at her.

She pauses briefly, before flinging the microphone back in the same direction, as the person who apparently threw the liquid apologizes and security staff intervene.

However, some videos online appear to show the mic making contact with a different member of the audience.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said Monday that a woman had contacted them to report a battery.

"According to the victim, she was attending an event on July 29, 2023, at a property located in the 3500 block of Las Vegas Boulevard," the police said in a statement to U.S. media.

"During a concert, she was struck by an item that was thrown from the stage."

The police statement did not mention Cardi B by name, but the date and location accord with her show.

In June a man threw a phone at Bebe Rexha during a concert in New York, landing the singer in hospital.

The same month an audience member threw a bag purportedly containing the ashes of their mother at the stage while singer Pink was performing in London.

And last year Harry Styles good-naturedly paused a New York concert after someone threw a chicken nugget in his direction.

In December, Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose pledged to stop throwing his microphone into the audience at the end of a show after a fan was reportedly hurt in Australia.

And after she threw the mic, her song vocals strangely continued through the speakers. Perhaps the concertgoer was troubled to be paying for lip-syncing.

Awful untalented and entitled diva and also a thug. 200 hours community service sounds good to me, she needs some humility, appalling woman.

Okay nevermind I googled it.

I suggest that others don't.

I would not know one of her songs if I heard it, but throwing a hard metallic object at someone very close by can be more than dangerous.

Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose pledged to stop throwing his microphone into the audience...

It would be an honor to be struck by Rose's mike...

What is WAP?

I would bet money that somewhere in Japan, there will be elementary school kids earnestly doing a "hiphop" dance routine to that song, sometimes in front of other kids, completely oblivious to what the lyrics are.

fwiw, I don't support throwing microphones or other objects at people. She has security to deal with them.

Watched the video. Gotta side with the fan on this one. This wasn't some drunk unruly fan throwing a beer at her or anything. She asked fans to splash her with water because she was hot. This fan did that, pretty gently and clearly with no intent to hurt her or anything like that.

Then she just whips that microphone hard into the crowd, with the clear intention to cause injury to the fan. Looks like she hit some random person who happened to be standing next to the one who splashed her.

@Christopher Mas Osan HATERS HATERS HATERS!! Entertainment is not something that has to be tasteful its art. It is what you see like a picture. If you don't like her music don't buy it. Just as if you don't see a beautiful picture you buy it, if it unsightly you don't buy it. It's an art form that entertains people. Evidently she has something to offer because the people were there to see her. You can say what you want, but as they say if you have a gift for gab you can sell anything. I can't knock her for what she is doing because every one has a mind of their own and a choice. So if you choose not to listen great, its your choice she is not forcing anything on anyone if she was that bad she would not be in the business. On another note entertainers, athletes are targets if you say an athlete sucks and you push him or her and they retaliate that's a big pay day for the victim who will claim pain and suffering. America anyone can get sued. You can call it what you want it and if you had the same game I bet you wouldn't call it a money grab. Cardi B real! Cardi got game, fame and fortune!! Don't hate the players hate the game!
