Here's an idea: why not completely dismantle the imperial family system, and all royalty around the world, to help the people of those countries in the hard economic times?

Imagine how many mouths we could feed and electricity bills we could pay if we shared their money among the people?

If we shaved off the world’s mountains and made everything completely flat, we’d be covered in 4km-deep water.

Wait, so Skynet isn’t about to become self-aware? That must be a relief for the gullible souls that believe all the scaremongering. But rather than accept this is another Y2K media frenzy, let’s phrase it as Skynet sabotaging itself. That way the fear can linger.

Sucks for Japanese - and if they don't care, neither shall I on their behalf - but good for our bilingual children when it come to bilingual career opportunities.

Trivial example, but an elementary school student lost a mark because he wrote lower case 't' with a tail instead of as a cross. Why? Because that's how he was taught to write it. So to the teacher it was a mistake.

Some people deserve the death penalty. I mean, I doubt anyone would describe Amon Göth’s fate as unfair. But I think if I’m not prepared to pull the lever myself then I have no right to expect someone else to do it for me.

Posted in: Japanese pop star Shinjiro Atae says he's gay See in context

treble4punkToday  09:52 pm JST

The point is he cannot enjoy equal rights as most people.

There is no such thing as equal rights for all. I don't have the right to:

Attend kindergarten

Join a women's circle

Vote in Japan

Park in disabled spaces

Join a gentleman's club

Use a women's toilet (topical!)

Because I'm not:

a child

a woman

a Japanese national

disabled

in possession of the right introductions

a woman

I don't know what rights you're thinking about, but if we're talking about marriage then gay couples don't have the right to marriage because they aren't a male and female. As above, that's the way it is, not an opinion. But if something else comes along that satisfies them, good for them. If you mean other rights, then you should list them. I'm not sure what else they're denied.

The expression 'wearing one's heart on one's sleeve' has morphed into plastering your every insecurity on social media - fine for people who have no interest in it - but which is then posted on news websites (all it seems) which indulge it as clickbait. That, I believe, is what annoys people.

Men committing crime would not offend you as much or you don’t want crimes committed by women to be in articles? Strange comment.

Apart from the real actors telling us it is not them but rather AI in a movie, I believe the end product will lack the intensity, romantic connection, comedic timing and everything else real actors bring to a movie.

Yeah, there's no right or wrong opinion and I agree that there are roles that need the human element. I just don't think an 'AI禁止' attitude is necessary. For example, would it have made any difference if the Terminator had been AI? No offence, Arnold.

I will be sticking with the artists that devote their lifetime to their craft.

That’s a comfortable position to theorize right now, but it’s not a case of one or the other. In many years we’ll be coming out of the cinema with an opinion on what we just saw, same as we do now. And just as it doesn’t concern us whether a film was written on a typewriter or MS Word, I don’t think we’ll be overly concerned with whether an actor exists or not. It’s not like we knew them. The use of AI might cause us to dislike a film, but that just adds another reason to the list (bad acting, bad script, bad plot, etc.). I don’t think all AI will simply be BAD. Just another chapter in the film world.

I understand their position and you can fight change, but change is inevitable and has to be accommodated eventually. Like cinema/TV/VHS/DVD/streaming. If no one will hire them, they’ll need to find a new source of income. Much as anyone in Hollywood thinks they’re special.

Do you have any clue whatsoever how Japan works?

Yes, I've had 3 kids grow up here. Apart from the 'how many days can you not watch TV thing' the schools never dictated what my kids should or should not do, other than homework and attend designated school days. And if they'd tried, I would have had the final choice whether it was a good idea or not. Did you just roll over?
