Love the rainy season and the smell of the rain! However, I don't like what is coming after which is humid and hot weather.

Rain until tomorrow, and then sunny for a week...

Gentle raindrops fall,

Nature's tears from cloudy skies,

Renewing the earth.

At least June hasnt been as hot and humid as last year. For that im thankful. Now time for 4 months AC hibernation.

So, it's actually LATER than "usual"? I thought it was announced EARLIER than usual about two weeks ago? Or has that article/announcement gone down the memory hole?

Had to wait to see if it made sense to try to falsely link any of it to “climate change” before announcing it.

I love my agisai flowers that welcome the rainy season. But hate the snakes that come after.

Soft

You better believe it

I think they announced that it had started as far as the Nagoya / Tokai area just before the typhoon on June 2nd. So a few days earlier for that area and a few days later for Kanto if I'm not mistaken.

I thought May was especially rainier than normal, at least where I live. My garden veggies are a good two weeks behind schedule. If June is gunna be like May, I think it might mean I don't get to harvest much until July. Cucumbers are doing well though and I haven't had to water much recently. Tomatoes like the heat though.

I could stick my head out the window and tell you that but thanks, I guess..

That headline is weird -

Weather agency declares rainy season has officially begun across Japan

How? As it states in the article and is common knowledge - it already has begun days/week ago in many places in main Japan.

Or are they equating Japan with Tokyo as often is the case?

And this -

The season does not occur in Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost prefecture.

Recent years have shown an extended rain influenced season has occurred in the North.

Lacking in substance article.

They looked out the window and saw rain. Einstein must be turning in his grave with the brain power in abundance today!

But not 'across Japan'.

They are saying that the rainy season has begun in all of the areas that the rainy season usually affects. Until today it officially hadn't.

Not that hard to understand really.

The rainy season has officially begun across Japan, with the northeast and parts of central areas of the nation joining other regions already experiencing soggy weather, the weather agency said Sunday.

Just another natural weather pattern.

A once great man once said :

"You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows!"

Clippety - thanks for your comment.

My interpretation is a little different because of the use of "begun". How about the seasonal rain front now covers Japan or the like.

And also the "officially" part always gets me.

Rainy season started in my region days before being "given "official" status.

Natural or not watch out for the mold, especially on leather shoes and other items. One year after the rainy season took out a handmade leather craved bag which was covered in green mold.
